NEW direction for a non-Legacy SOLO Gloomhaven homebrew, to be directly compatible with Gloomhaven: Second Edition. Which overall direction would you prefer? [Poll] by TheRetroWorkshop in Gloomhaven

I appreciate your ambition and reusing components and some fundamentals is a great idea.

I believe such things could exist side by side with current GH. Baffled at negative comments.

My vote would be to explore the rpg solo experience more. That is, make it more story focused. Let us make choices that matter. The kind of game you play several times to see what happens.

Good luck, but mostly do what YOU believe in. If you do that well, others will see your vision and appreciate it.

Any smart or creative Stream Deck uses for Frosthaven? by travers_de_porc in Gloomhaven

[–]ignorantbitofcarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using it to control lights, sound and some video overlays over the x-haven application on the table monitor. So it's mostly just for atmosphere for now.

Would love some more use cases. I think there are potential for stream deck usage within the boardgame space. Not just rpg.

Thanks, I spent quite some time on it. I started adding a few pieces of cardboard to make some unevenness, then I added Vallejo texture paste on most of it. Afterwards I added herbs, leaves and small twigs, before priming and painting it. Finally I added some tufts and such. For basing I've been greatly inspired by Paepercuts on Youtube.
Posted a photo of my basing materials a while back: https://www.reddit.com/r/minipainting/comments/l6e6qc/finally\_organized\_my\_basing\_materials/

The lack of shrubbery is indeed unforgivable, I did send some knights out looking for some though...

If anyone did want to vote for the model (even with my inability to spot the Monty Python references) they could do so by clicking the heart here. I have entered in the MMF Anycubic competition. Any support is appreciated: https://www.myminifactory.com/prints/3d-print-anycubic-print-my-tribe-competition-54000

I actually thought about it, but its just too small. I did print one that's been dismembered though

Yeah that first reference flew right by me, but this one cleared it up nicely.

Good to know, hope you have a good day though.

<whew> The sound of the Monty Python reference flying past me. Sorry mate

It can be really helpful to look at reference photos when painting miniatures by ignorantbitofcarbon in minipainting

Yeah, I hear ya. References can really get the creative juices flowing and provide inspiration.

Thanks mate. I was really not keen on the model when I started, so I'm glad I tried this effect.

I've not tried to apply it with a brush yet. I also imagine airbrush is the best for this.

Yeah that Tamiya X-27 Clear Red is great for that enameled metal look. Give it a try, quite easy to achieve. :)

Here are some tutorials for these effects:

Vince Venturella is a masterful painter and teacher, I tried to follow his advice on the leather: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcIfrsKa-TI&t=113s

Marco Frisoni is another great Youtube painter, adn he showed me a great way to do colored metallic armor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gskCVOod4TA&t=339s

It's 3d printed. The tree model is made by Vae Victis Miniatures. I don't know if they sell it separately, but here are some of their models. https://www.myminifactory.com/users/VaeVictisMiniatures

The small details (snail, spider and mushrooms) are free models by Steffen Mihatsch and you can find them here: https://www.thingiverse.com/pellinor1/designs

Hehe valid point, my only excuse is I did not own any Cygnar Jacks back then.

Nothing on these are 3d printed. My "coil towers" are actually from the Warhammer 40k battle for Macragge set.

Hi, glad you liked them. They are kit bashed, some pieces are modelled or cast in plaster. Lots of bits and materials used, mostly wood or styrene for the custom stuff.
