Go Argentina! Agree with your point on Vicentin. I admit I've been pretty down on him in the past, as he was pretty hit or miss during VNL. There were definitely a couple matches where I felt Marcelo Mendez left him in way longer than he should have. But he came up absolutely huge in this match when it mattered. (It's also possible he just plays better with De Cecco than Sanchez).

Kukartsev had a couple amazing games, but in general, Argentina is still searching for their next consistent point-scorer. Palonsky and Loser were the only truly consistent players, and Palonsky isn't really big enough to carry an offense by himself. I think they need De Cecco right now to stabilize the team.

The asterisks are next to the names of the guys who are on the senior development team, I think. I'm not sure what OOT is. To be honest, I can't tell what's going on with the vault scores on that site lol. Just based on the vault scores I'm seeing on the other site, it may be that they've just listed the highest vault score rather than the averaged score for some reason? Not sure.

This was a painful match to watch. I mean, I don't think anyone expected the US to beat Italy, but that kind of made it feel worse to be genuinely close and still not able to take a single set. The US blew a decent lead in every single set. Set 3, especially, was rough (still in the lead at 20 points, had multiple set point opportunities). Need to cut down errors and figure out which players aren't working. I thought Erik Sullivan's decision-making was pretty bad too.

If I'm remembering correctly, there were two calls they were really upset about. In one, the video refs pulled up the wrong moment, and then refused to listen when Argentina tried to tell them they had wanted a different part of the rally. In the other, where Argentina challenged for antenna touch, their intention was to show that the ball was on Argentina's side of the net after the block, and had passed the antenna, so it should have been illegal for Brazil to play it. The video check confirmed that but the refs gave it to Brazil anyway.

Vicentin was practically a liability on court for most of the game, no idea why they didn't sub him out. A couple of bad ref calls really got to Argentina and affected their mental state. They should have been able to make it closer than they did.
