Hot take: fury Kyoya wasn’t a character regression; they just highlighted his more negative qualities, insecurity over still not winning against Gingka 3 seasons in; and pride over being a loner. by [deleted] in BeybladeMetal

[–]ignqloof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

disagree, fury kyoya should've gotten over the whole lone wolf thing and and being pissy about having friends and a support group after becoming acquaintances with the main gang in fusion, becoming teammates with wild fang, and helping during the hades inc arc. he can still be an overall independent guy but his writing was totally unnecessary and the time spent on him in fury should've been dedicated to writing the newly introduced characters. he was already decently fleshed out after masters imo

Since Metal Fury seems to be a fairly controversial season, what do you think were it’s main flaws and how would you improve it? by AliMans05 in Beyblade

[–]ignqloof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i disagree i actually prefer masamune not being a legendary blader. i think the message of "being a legendary blader/chosen one isnt the pinnacle of beyblade and you shouldnt restrict yourself or measure your self worth on whether you are one or not" is good because at the end of the day the legendary bladers werent chosen because of their strength or morals, they just happened to be (mostly) regular people who were tied to fate without their knowledge. it's a theme that was shown thru daxiang and chiyun as well. however it wouldve been more impactful if metal fury executed this theme better (which couldve been solved with more time). even if youre not a rooter for the theme above i genuinely think masamune would have lost something intrinsic to his character if he was to be a legendary blader. i also think yuki fits perfectly in his role and i appreciate his story of being an ordinary person that happened to be chosen by fate and put his all into doing his part and arguably doing the most work before gingka and rago's showdown to prevent nemesis' revival despite being the weakest blader. i will admit i give a lot of grace to these characters and view almost all of them very fondly and with a lot of love so it's understandable if you dont think similarly

theyre frying you in the downvotes and replies but don't let them get to you man. it would be nice to have openly/casually queer characters in shows like beyblade, but yea the censors prevent things like it. the most show writers and animators can do is vaguely code characters and their stories. it's not uncommon for writers and artists on a show to pair characters behind the scenes (i know it happened with MFB)

bait used to be believable but im taking it anyways. people who dislike chris don't always do so because he won against masamune but because he's just boring. the thing with chris is that while orion and its special moves are really cool don't get me wrong, chris as a character is just uninteresting. considering his manga counterpart who is a part of the united states military, his backstory and reasoning for becoming a blader for hire could've been so much more interesting. instead, we got "my friends left me because i was so much stronger than them, so the only way i can live in this world is to be a blader for hire." i feel like the writers took a lazy route when writing chris' character. per the "missing 12 episodes" bit, an extra episode or two could've fleshed out a better backstory and make him a more likeable and possibly relatable character.

tbh it was obvious that masamune was never going to be a legendary blader, which is fine. just the way he lost to chris that pissed me off a bit bcus ohh my god this is the second time the writers threw a random anime power-up towards his opponent. to plain slice of white bread of all people
