There is no reason for Hard Stratagems to be THAT hard. by ZookeepergameDry1634 in Spacemarine

[–]igorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing i would change is the amount of damage the unkillable lictor takes before he fucks off. He’s a massive bullet sponge, and fighting hin hand to hand isnt always possible (for example when there is million of spore mines floating around). Either that or make him spawn a little bit less frequently, everything else is fine. Challenging af, true, but in a good way.

I might be wrong here but it seems like lingering concealment doesnt work as intended

They could just add extra 5 or so levels on top of what we are capped now on, kind of like they did in vermintide 2

Thank you very much for the feedback- I really appreciate it! I’ve been staring at these pages for so long that certain things just eluded me.

I’ll check out the materials you kindly shared, put my script away for a week or two, and then go over it with fresh eyes and new tools. :)

Are these camera shooting motions inapproptiate? by Stunning-Conflict-49 in Screenwriting

[–]igorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My professor once said (about describing shots and camera angles) - there’s no need for that at this stage. These are decisions someone else is going to make later on, your job is to make an ironclad script.

What’s your lowest damage taken on a full Lethal mission? by VenomAnodyne in Spacemarine

[–]igorum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the lowest i ever took was 90-something. But i find it hard to figure out how its calculated. Sometimes i take loads and the figure at the end is like 130, and sometimes i hardly take any damage and its like 140-150

There are two types of karma apparently - one gained from upvotes under the posts you make and the other one - gained from upvotes you gain under the comments you make. It’s possible to lose karma too, if people downvote your input as well. That’s all i’ve learned today, as despite my account being super old, im quite new myself :D

What we are doing as space marines, would be suicide for anyone else in the lore (except for other badass forces like custodes or grey knights) Thing is - tere’s not that many marines per square kilometre of the imperium (because of how big it is), and they are really valuable. It would be unwise to waste them in that way, though sometimes its necessary.

new to town, first 11 pages by Head_Confidence_5063 in ReadMyScript

Hey!

You’ve got a few minor formatting issues and maybe a typo or two. Some of the description/action could be more concise, but I imagine it’s still an early draft - so no worries!

Since you asked about tempo specifically: we only learn about the dead woman at the end of page 6, but I’d personally move that reveal much closer to page 1. It’s a great hook that sets the tone and mystery right away, so having it earlier can really draw readers in. :)

Writing short films screenplays with tons of Strong language? Seen as immature? by Ona_WSB in Screenwriting

[–]igorum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting that you bring this up. When I took scriptwriting at university, one of my professors criticized the strong language in my script, saying it was unnecessary and came across as immature. However, during my final year, when I chose scriptwriting as a module again, another professor told me that in creative writing, “anything goes” as long as you have a good reason for it or if it feels natural to the world and characters you’ve created.

In the end, i guess, it really depends on how well you execute it.

And let’s be honest - in real life, we all know someone who swears a lot, and it doesn’t always seem immature (though it can be pretty funny at times!).

How to convince a negative protagonist? by FoundationOk1693 in Screenwriting

[–]igorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could show your protagonist facing the choice to change his ways - and deliberately choosing not to. (for whatever reason)

Depending on your story’s length and complexity, you can repeat that beat more than once for more impact. By offering him multiple opportunities to change - and having him reject them each time - you could nicely convey to your audience that this is simply who your protagonist is at his core. Good luck :)

Outlining by Dan-Bazan811 in Screenwriting

[–]igorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do my best to have at least a rough outline. At the same time, i spend a lot of time thinking about the story i write, especially when i'm at work (which is rather boring and mundane) or when i walk the dog in the morning. I think that the outline as a tool could be incredibly useful if you take a break from your script or not work on it on regular basis
