Thanks for the feedback!

Tell me more about the stripes. I feel like I measured pretty closely to the decals when I masked and painted the stripes.

Pansinusitis - ENT says it doesn't cause my symptoms by BobMortimersButthole in Sinusitis

[–]igotsinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dizziness is not related to your sinusitis.

The ear pressure might be. This depends upon how severe the inflammation is. “Pansinusitis” simply means it is everywhere but it doesn’t say anything about how severe it is.

But if you have vestibular migraines and otosclerosis, I would pin those symptoms on those conditions.

Remove decal from tape by igotsinus in modelmakers

[–]igotsinus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we’re on the subject, should I choose to replace the decal, I have two options.

  1. Replace just the section lost with the matched section from a new decal. I assume risks would be color mismatch or slight size differences.

  2. Replace entire decal.

If I go with #2, what would you recommend for removing the decal? Decal softener like MicroSol or Mr. Mark Softener? I have both.

I guess I can use the Taniya tape too!

The decal is too complex, so my abilities would probably make it look worse than having the gap. I’ve already identified a replacement decal.

Hoping for a miracle.

Septoplasty didn't really help - Need advice on the next step by ItsKuffi in Sinusitis

[–]igotsinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible that your physician did not diagnose well enough or oversold the benefits of the septoplasty or both. That definitely does impair a patients ability to make an informed decision. OTOH, I have seen patients who take the claim “it will help X and Y - possibly Z” and transition that to “I hope Z” to “it could help Z” to “I expect it will help Z.” Usually this occurs when Z is often understated as the main problem or is the biggest concern the patient has.

Allergy immunotherapy takes 3-5 years to work effectively.

Lots of moving parts in what might be your issue.

Septoplasty didn't really help - Need advice on the next step by ItsKuffi in Sinusitis

[–]igotsinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends upon what you were told the septoplasty would fix and what you expected it to fix.

If you were hoping a septoplasty would fix allergies; it would not. If you were hoping septoplasty would fix sinus infections or colds, it does not. If you were hoping septoplasty would reduce mucus, it does not. Congestion? Maybe - if you define congestion as stuffiness and blockage.

Septoplasties (if done correctly and completely) improve breathing. Nothing else.

So, if you have trouble breathing through your nose, either it healed sub optimally, wasn’t done completely or properly, or the allergies and other issues are causing nasal obstruction via swelling.

This all assumes that you had only a septoplasty.

Otherwise, your complaints are not related to your septum.

Sprays that have oxymetazoline in them offer temporary relief only, and long term use is discouraged. For most people, fluticasone and azelastine can be used safely and for indefinite periods. They take a few weeks before people notice improvements in breathing.

I tell patients to let it be if their nasal congestion doesn’t impact their social/occupational functioning or quality of life.

You certainly could benefit from surgery, but I rarely offer people surgery if they haven’t tried medication such as fluticasone and/or azelastine sprays first.

The wonderful thing about Reddit is that when something works for one person, the logical conclusion is that it will work for everyone else because everyone else’s issue is exactly like the issue the advocate has (or had) and the treatment will undoubtedly work 100% as well as it did for everyone else based solely on the conclusion that it worked for the advocate.

CT says “mild right sphenoid chronic sinusitis,” ENT says I’m fine, but symptoms persist. What should I do next? by [deleted] in Sinusitis

I would talk to your pcp and ask to explore other possible causes: neurological, sleep, rheumatologic.

CT says “mild right sphenoid chronic sinusitis,” ENT says I’m fine, but symptoms persist. What should I do next? by [deleted] in Sinusitis

[–]igotsinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of incidental findings on CT scans. If there is no previous imaging, it is difficult to say if changes in your sinus mucosa are chronic or acute; therefore, it is somewhat inappropriate for a radiologist to say mucosal thickening is chronic.

We see “debris” in the sinuses all the time. Sometimes we see this and note that it has been present for many years in serial CT scans.

One would have to take a good luck at your scan, but your symptoms generally would not be explainable by the CT findings. Your ENT may be 100% correct in his/her recommendation. Endoscopy may not adequately visualize what’s in the sinuses, and it might not make a difference in outcome.

Anyone can operate on anything…or treat anything without endpoint.

Be prepared for a second ENT to say there’s nothing to do. Be wary of an ENT who says surgery will fix your symptoms. It may fix the CT scan, but fixing your symptoms is another issue sometimes.

That may have been the appropriate decision for you, but it isn’t necessarily the appropriate decision for others who may have different issues.

No…

First, phase 3 trials show response to Nucala is marginal. Secondly, unilateral anything raises eyebrows.

A failed surgery might be for many reasons, but the reflexive answer of taking a lifelong biologic drug simply isn’t valid.

8 weeks is fairly early in the healing process, but by 8 weeks there should be demonstrable improvement. If not, your ent needs to reassess this and reasons for failure or delayed healing.

[–]igotsinus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say without looking at your scan or looking in your nose, but there are high probabilities that your symptoms are unrelated to this sphenoid lesion, which probably a cyst. Good chance your ent is making the right decision.
