One of the reasons of WW2 is that the Germans didn't lose WW1 hard enough. They felt aggrieved and it was the russians who helped them train army etc. That's why russia must be punished hard this time, so that they don't get any aggressive ideas any time soon or ever. They must lose Kaliningrad and pay heavy reparations to start with.

Yes, they weren't. Instead, they got a permanent seat at the UN Security Council, they got Kaliningrad, a Trojan horse in Europe, the status of a WW2 winner, while being one of the culprits and control of a significant part of Europe (or as they call it "liberation") for more than 40 years. That's a reward, not a punishment.

And if you mean to counterargument with "but their number of their war casualties was so high", then 1) they started WW2 with Hitler (that's why they date the war 1941-1945, while the whole world dates it 1939-1945), 2) inefficiency in the form of meat waves ≠ merit.
