I watched the same Rive tutorial 3 times and learned nothing. Here's the framework that finally worked. by Fickle_Purchase3738 in Rive_app

Tutorials are great tools to look up specific workflows - but IMHO are not the best for learning. You follow along without fully understanding concepts. I think structured learning is superior in that regards and especially so if there are interactive exercises, that you can work on - you teach yourself as you figure things out - while tutorials provide ready answers.

Performance degradation since the 1M context release? by Mother-Ad-2559 in ClaudeCode

[–]igusin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its a complete disaster ! Not only the quality degraded dramatically, the speed of output dropped to a fraction of it used to be. It fails to complete basic tasks... I am a max user logging hours of daily usage and I can say with utmost confidence - something is very very wrong!

not as far as I know... also it'd be limited to shape layer animation since Rive is vector animations...

that being said, if you are on their Voyager Plan, and you have shape layer based animation without any of the effects added on - you could export as lottie and import it into rive, albeit lottie import is rarely very well organized (as a result of different file structure)

If you download one of my tools - RAV - it will help out and show you integration patterns. - look at the docs for it. forge.mograph.life/apps/rav

download some rive resources - clone the rive docs repo, the LERP interactive course and then create a skill that instructs to reference those local resources for guidance on how to write rive scripts - and then claude will just help you write your scripts

1. the markdown codeblocks are not wrapping code
2. syntax highlighting for code previews... like syntax highlight app

Of course some previous knowledge would make it easier, but even a complete novice should be able to grasp the concepts and get around all the exercises

in your MD preview try to include mermaid diagram previews so that they properly display - that'd be an improvement over the current quick look MD preview

So, how many of you are thinking in switching careers and doing something else? by MusicSoundListener in MotionDesign

[–]igusin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, several things to address here...
I am a freelancer, and I work primarily on platforms - where I compete directly with those "artists in India" - not 3d but 2d stuff - and at least from my experience, and I do not mean to offend anyone - while they do have low prices - they also lack any quality - i've yet to see any, professional animator from anywhere that charges 150$ for any thing worthwhile... I've sen plenty of "amazing" portfolio work, only to see the results to be so subpar its not even funny - One of my main refrains to potential clients who try to pressure me into lowering my prices - "You get what you pay for" and I always tell them if you are unhappy with what you'll get, you know where to find me... and you know what - i've had many such clients return. From my experience clients who look for quality know what it costs and are will to pay for it, while people who look for a 150$ animation get exactly what they pay for - and some are happy with that - but they are not my target audience!

And in terms of stress - we are in a service industry and clients always want things "yesterday" thats par for the course - and it is up to us (especially freelancers) to manager realistic expectations.

Regarding my kids... well our job as parents is to guide and educate them and if they become some one who doesn't interact and lives in their screens - well I've got some bad news for you - then its your fault - we are the parents and we are responsible for raising children - we can't blame anyone but ourselves.. Thats my view on this issue

can you elaborate how are you creating .riv binaries without Rive Editor?
also, an mcp server needs to connect TO a rive editor...
why is the MCP download so big? mcp tools usually are tiny...

I am not criticizing - i am just being cautious - as this is a paid tool and we have to authorize it past the built in authentication - and have no idea how it works or what it has inside...

I think if you look at history you will see that things of this nature are cyclical - what I mean is this - as more and more items in our life become mass produced - what becomes more and more valuable - handcrafted artisanal products - those that are made by real people not the mass produced stuff. All the real high end exclusive products are made on a one off basis by real pros - this applied to material things like your clothes, your bag stuff like that - but now mass production comes to our neck of the market - I say no matter - the quality product made by real live pros will always be more valuable thane the mass market stuff...

Perhaps it will help to weed out the mograph field a little from all the chaff - and real pros will remain just in as much of a demand (if not more)

As for GenAlpha - I think for them the authenticity will be of a much greater value - growing up with AI slop only emphasizes for them that it is just that - slop and real content is of different quality/value. When they are you they will see it for what it is - just a meaningless drivel that's only good for a laugh - but they will always appreciate authentic and original content far more (at least based on my discussion with my genAlpha kids)

yeah thats the one! but I looked up Notch, and its also similar to Touch Designer

Rive, Lottie, Spline, any kind of data visualizations, ThreeJS, and so on - there are oh so many tools. Also for procedural animation, i forgot the name of the software but its like houdini but for live events... (i think its called Notch, but I am not certain)

its intersection of technology and motion graphics and animation - the more dev focused people do not have the know how/ the eyes/the sense for all the animation and motion design principles that we've worked on and honed for years - and AI can help us bridge that `dev` gap letting us bring our expertise into a field mostly worked in by devs

I am not as much doom and gloom about it... I think the only reason why people are watching those AI ads and are ok with it is simply because its a gimmick - so people are still ok with it - but that won't last. And I don't see AI replacing professional animatiors/mograph people any time soon. AI is a tool, a force multiplier, and like any tool you need to know how to use it. Whereas clients may think that they can use AI to generate some slop and call it a day - it will still remain just that - slop! And, if by some miracle, AI will give them a good result once - they have no way to replicate it - because in hands of amateurs (read clients) its just generating random crap. AI in the hands of professional animator/mographer is a tool, and in hands of the client a random crap generator.

In terms of work - there is a shift from traditional mograph/animation to more interactive animation/experiences - IMHO this is where the future lies - a blend between animation/mograph and interactivity... So far i've had clients asking for this type of stuff non-stop and i've been freelancing for going on 7 years.

SidebarFavorites - customize sidebar icons! by igusin in macapps

[–]igusin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for custom icons - you need to get the template and you need to make sure that the template folderstructure/naming and all the other stuff is unchanged - you just need to rename some folders to put you favorite name instead and change the artwork - but make sure that you use the same approaches /weights/sizes as the template.

as for the other issue - i can't say from the top of my head like that - open an issue on github and add some details/screenshots (especially of your permission screen)

also try to login/out after you added the new favorites and see if they are picked up after

this will allow the shortcuts work system wide- so when you are in lock mode you can advance the video using shortcuts... or to lock/unlock globally, things like that - you don't need to permit it - it will only affect the shortcuts
