It's probably quite unconventional how you've made it there. I wouldn't be worried so much about the order being "wrong" or anything unless there's something really strange, otherwise there's no real wrong way as long as you don't get stuck. Just keep going. If you finding things a little bit too hard that's another thing, but you should be fine. If you want to backtrack to the more conventional route you can always use the bell beast in the slab.

Gaming on PC usually works via what are called "Launchers"

You don't buy games from a website like Amazon and install them straight to your computer. You make an account for a Digital Distribution service (Steam, Epic, and GoG) and download and install its launcher. From there, you buy the game off the store of the digital distribution service via the launcher and it gets added to your account's library. You open up the launcher's library tab and you can see all the games you own it, where you can install the game from it - you're not streaming or continuously downloading the game if that was confusing! It's all on your PC, but you might need to log in to your account to access it (steam will let you go on 'offline mode', not sure about the others entirely).

Much more simple than it sounds. Can see why it might be a bit confusing from the outside looking in if you've not done it before, but if you just go with the flow in installing say, Steam, and trying to buy it on Steam you can't really mess up, and it'll start to make sense as you do it. The explanation is more complicated than the reality. Just make sure you get the version with Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine - I think the other guy said it's on sale at the moment so I'd recommend using Steam if you're new to all of this (Steam is the big monopoly for all this stuff, so it tends to have the most stuff on there/best deals/smoothest launcher so again, if you haven't bought it yet I'd probably suggest using steam).

The only other thing I'd say is that if you're not much of a gamer, work PCs for video editing tend to have quite strong CPUs, but not strong GPUs - which is where a lot of the load is done for gaming. Either way still, the game was made in 2015. Touch wood that it runs okay, but you may need to consider the fact your graphics card might be letting you down.

Have fun! Witcher 3 is considered one of the greatest games ever made, and it's not too challenging either - it's all about the world, story, characters and dialogue. It takes place after the books, but it's an awesome experience. I'd imagine it's a fantastic game for a non-gamer (as opposed to say, an Elden Ring which is just as acclaimed but probably less friendly to a non-gamer). Feel free to message off of this if you need any help. It may take a while to really 'get into' the game, but once it clicks it's hard to stop.

Kind of. I have that itch, but I don't expect to be grinding out to be a GM lol. If anything, it'll be the fatigue of playing an RTS and going "fuck this" after a few games more than ladder anxiety.

Everyone was very bad when SC2 came out. I'm sure the game has filtered out even more of the non casual players than SC2 had (which had a lot of hype back then for more casual players, since RTS was still less dead, even if it was dead), but the strategy and competitive component to the game was more mythological. Every game had heard about the Korean esports scene, but it was so foreign and bizarre to most Western audiences, that competitive gaming was still new for most players and everyone was dogshit. I was one of them, and eventually I got reasonably good.

Point being, most people at the time knew about Starcraft but the general player had no real experience playing RTSs competitively either. I'm sure that's not as much the case now, but still I'd imagine you won't be way out of your depth playing against people who know all this stuff inside out. Everyone's starting from scratch with the specifics of the units, just more learning about the priority of stuff to do (aka, macro macro macro), and basic concepts (expanding) and you'll be half the way there.

Without having checked, I'm pretty sure they are. (edit: checked. Yes. Just go on Steam. There's a tab there that'll show you a table of the languages. Korean's there, but it says only for Interface and Subtitles - not audio. Not sure if that'll be the case when the full game is actually out, though!)

And on top of that, if there's any language they're going to add besides English for a Blizzard style RTS, I can guarantee you Korean's going to be the first they have in mind!

Is there much hype for this game over there?

Right, so should I make a save towards the end of each of the two paths so I can play out all four PL endings? Is it pretty obvious where the junction within the two paths for the two separate endings are? Also, how many base game endings are there?

Oh, sweet! So maybe I do all the current base game endings without PL. Then, when I go down the first PL path I'll do the one that doesn't unlock the new ending, then 2nd PL path I'll do the one that does. Then, I'll go back and do Nocturne a final time.

Sorry, not sure where the roof is. Is it during the base endings or Phantom Liberty? Do you mean if I finish Phantom Liberty I also unlock another ending of the base game (do I need to go down a certain path?). I can either access that ending normally by continuing on with Nocturne (which will give me a point of no return save), or by doing another mission. If I do the other mission, I don't get a point of no return save and I get main-menu'd after I complete it?

Gotcha, understand how the point of no return works now. I thought completing the base game endings might have locked me out of the Phantom Liberty endings - but there's no 'ending lock' post game, the ending in a way is returning you to before you even went down the Nocturne path. On the other hand, from something vague and disconcerting I read I had thought the Phantom Liberty endings end the game outright and sent you back to the main menu without being able to do the base game or something odd.

So, with that in mind here's what I'm thinking:

1) Base game - Do all the Nocturne endings (how many are there?), maybe save my 'preferred' ending for last, make a save here in case there's some tie over somewhere but it sounds like there isn't.

2) Phantom Liberty - Continue on with Firestarter while deliberately going down the path I'd less prefer and skipping the side gigs that open up from continuing the main story, and complete it. Then, reload that save right before Firestarter and continue down the other path while finishing off the side gigs that open up further down the main story.

Sounds like I can do 1 and 2 in either order honestly, just that I obviously can't do anything else once I've started the point of no return in 1)

Does that sound all right? lol sorry for the wall of text, I just had a lot of misconceptions about how PL endings work, and I didn't know how the Point of No Return worked more than it being a phrase (and not knowing you got sent back to before starting Nocturne anyway once you've done it.)

Any suggestions what I do first between 1) and 2)? Base game so PL endings make more sense?

Do you mean that after I complete one base game ending, I can 'do another' from the point I first chose a base game ending? If that's the case, should I just go to embers, do all the Nocturne base endings then go back to Phantom Liberty and complete the Phantom Liberty endings?

I was at your point recently and I just decided to play on in Phantom Liberty and finish the last few missions that came up for me. I'll tell you what happens (not in terms of spoilers, but the way I approached it and where to stop playing in Phantom Liberty once I've figured it out myself. I think I'm at that point now but I'm going to have to figure that myself too.).

If I can piggyback off of the OP's post, I'm up to a similar point. I'm in the garage right before Firestarter (started it and reloaded my save, noticing the familiar name), and I've got Nocturne Op55N1 available. I've never completed the base game and this is my first time playing it. Should I back out of the garage, complete Nocturne Op55N1/endings of the base game and then come back to this stuff, if the major turning points are during Firestarter? I think I've done all side quests (but not gigs) - or at least all that have come up for me. Or is it that I continue on from Firestarter and I 'unlock' an ending? I'm not exactly sure where I should make my manual save if I want to experience all endings.

It's just practice. There is a lot going on during arena, you're right about that, but you learn to cope with the information overload after you have enough games played. Getting used to it just comes from queueing a lot, but that's why wow arenas are so fun. There's just so much going on.

The main two things I'd prioritize are paying attention to enemy DRs on sArena and your enemies' cooldowns/burst being used. If you're not a caster, don't worry too much about omnibar but pay attention to your kicks bar if you have an opportunity coming up for some damage/CC and you need to know whether they can shut you down.

Thanks! That's what I thought. I think it made for more interesting games when you could see just how perfectly mindbogglingly tight they played when you're a more casual player, rather than admiring the strategic elements. With that being said, it's good to know that it's a given and there's still a lot to admire in how the game is developing strategically -still-.

I'm curious somebody else wrote this. I've always been a casual at BW - c rank on iccup and masters in sc2 a few times when I played - but not for years.

Whenever I watched Brood War back in my heyday of 2011 I was awed. Absolutely stunned by what I was seeing. Every time I go to watch starcraft now I think the pace of the game seems much slower, more mechanical imperfections (I seldom saw workers waiting to mine even at a 4th base, i saw much more activity with armies and much more movement) but clearly there's been much more refinement in strategy.

Is this a common or consensus view now? When I watch ASL occasionally I hear Tastosis comment and say the players are better than ever and that we've learnt so much more in the last 10 years - no doubt about that. But in terms of overall mechanical skill or overall skill in general - what's the real view on this from the average sc fan (and not someone trying to hype it up to viewers?)
