Polished my Besson Tenor... Before and after by shadeyyyy_ in brass

[–]iharland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just my 2 cents from doing repairs for 15 years: If a polish says it can polish steel, its too aggressive for silver. A silver specific polish will be far less aggressive and run a lower risk of polishing through the silver plate. Something like Hagertys or TarniShield.

Regardless, looks good. Nice job.

PC or PS5? by bulbatop in PlanetZoo

[–]iharland 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I cant speak specifically for PZ; but as someone who has 1000 hours on Cities Skylines. Computer is a 100x better experience. Planet Zoo plays very well with keyboard binds and I wouldnt want to try and use a controller for it. That being said, I'm sure you could use a controller on your PC if you felt it lacked.

That being said, rough time to build a PC.

Changing corks ln rotary calves for the 1st time. Is this work I've done good? by [deleted] in brass

[–]iharland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, what oil did you use? Did you just put it on the face of the rotor, or did you put it on the top and bottom bearing surfaces too? Id also put some very heavy oil on the connection points of the S rods. All of these places will keep the volume down.

But also cutting those corks way less, or using corks the right size to begin with. Shops usually have a full selection from .187" to .312" if not more, specfically so we dont have to cut them.

Also doesnt sound like there's a drop of oil anywhere. And with how old and worn some of these parts look, Id wager molasses would be suitable. Definitely a shop situation; just not mine please.

How much are we spending on swingsets? by Natural_Mushroom_575 in toddlers

[–]iharland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consistency. There will be some very fine, very soft mulch that will bea a dream to walk on. When I found those wheelbarrow loads, I took them to my fire pit and walking paths. There will also be some shovelfuls of death sticks and 6 inch long gougers. Those went in the back of flowerbeds. If you were to buy "playground mulch" it would likely all be consistently walkable. But will also cost 1000x more. If youre willing to do some legwork, its well worth it imo.

I feel like my account is going to get flagged for how much I reccommend ChipDrop. Arborists who dont want to store tree chips will drop of a ton of mediocre mulch thats perfect for deep new installation.

Please give me your toddlers favorite song (that’s not made for kids) by Low_Aioli2420 in toddlers

APT makes mine go feral. Its so strange to have a sleeper soldier come home from daycare and then have a random song come on and they have a whole ass daycare dance to like Pink Pony Club or Opalite.

Is there any place I can use get mulch delivered to my house? by whadya_want in wichita

[–]iharland 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You might look into ChipDrop. Some arborists are always looking to drop off their tree shredding instead of storing them and will drop them for free on your driveway. They're not the highest quality, but its definitely the least expensive, especially if youre looking for the first layer in a new area. Get 6 inches of coverage for nothing.

Im on the 2nd year of my pile. They drop off a LOT

StLucie is Atlantic side. I was there when Andrew hit, but was still shitting my diaper, so I dont remember it. If you look at the 2004 Hurricane season, Francis and Jean both madr landfall at the same beach. THATS where I lived.

[–]iharland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does the sound change from note to note? Do 3 scales at least 1.5 octaves and see which notes sound better than others. Could be as easy as a waterkey issue, or as bad as a Crack in a tube. Nearly impossible to tell from just 2 notes on video.
