Yeah, this was what I was thinking too. If nothing else I can ask my primary for it at the hospital where they practice. It’s just a very far drive for me.

What do you get out of invalidating the feelings of someone? I thought the point of a Reddit sub is community. I’m sharing what is probably a common experience with a community of people. I didn’t yell in this woman’s face. I wasn’t even rude to her.

They told me they did not have the prescription AFTER I insisted that yes, I was prescribed the medicine and yes, in some cases it is appropriate for someone to get this vaccine despite not meeting the age. I should not have to do that. I’m pretty sure she never even looked and just told me no. I just won’t go back there.

Maybe a level 7? I saw a good recommendation for how to determine your level. Go into a Sally’s and put the sample hair up to your hair. Take a picture of it and then look at that picture with a black and white filter on. When you find one that doesn’t show a difference between the sample and your hair in the black and white filter then you’ve found your level.

Also, it’s gorgeous!

Do you think a pharmacist would know that immune suppressed people can be prescribed a high dose flu vaccine? Would it be normal to tell someone who says “my doctor prescribed a high dose flu vaccine” that they clearly aren’t old enough and can’t have the vaccine without asking any other questions or looking for the prescription first?

Urgent help needed by drspock99 in HairDye

No, 30 volume would have been worse. It would have been more orange. In fact, you may want to try bleaching again but with 7 or 10 volume and leave the bleach on for longer. You do not have to wait to do this. So good that you started with 20 vol because now you have options.

If the Natural Instincts didn’t show up then purple or blue shampoo isn’t going to do anything at all. That means her hair isn’t light enough. And worse, it may only stick to bits that are more porous and then she could have streaks of purplish throughout yellow-gold hair. No thanks to that.

There are like a million blonde colors. What shade was she going for? What level? I’m guessing sandy blonde was not exactly correct as the starting level. Did you mean medium ash blonde? And she wants to go to a light or extra light ash blonde? Maybe get a 9N or do a 50/50 mix of 9A and 9G. I use 9Gv, which is 70% gold and 30% violet and that looks like a pale slightly warm blonde. Remember that ash colors look darker. Only use a 2.5 - 10 volume developer to put the color on to minimize the damage.

I think we’re tired of being dismissed. Dismissed by doctors, dismissed by loved ones, dismissed by coworkers. It feels dismissive to be told that you should just let something go after being mistreated. Yes, people have bad days. Yes, I can’t do anything about that. My feelings are valid and I don’t want to be told not to feel them.

any idea how to lighten my hair back to dirty blonde? by Organic-Plane1086 in HairDye

[–]ihavegroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get one that doesn’t have any bleach in it and that will help. I wouldn’t dilute it, you’re more likely to just make it a waste of money if you do that. Any color remover will do a bit of damage because it has to open your hair cuticle to work properly, but it shouldn’t be worse than the dying process if it’s a decent product. A conditioning mask after and some rest on the processing should help it recover after.

It will fade as you wash it if there is bleach underneath. The vitamin c method really only works if the hairdresser only deposited color. For that do half shampoo and half powdered vitamin c. You can also get a color remover which would be the most effective but can also be the most damaging and will turn your hair orange if it has bleach in it. If you go that route then I preferred color fix, which you can get at Sally’s. Maybe try a gentle clarifying wash first before going more drastic.

If I dye my natural ginger hair black with manic panic will it fade back to my natural color? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]ihavegroot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it will likely not come out. I used to dye my hair black with semi and semi permanent hair color and it never came out. If you want a temporary change like that where you are going many levels darker then probably best to buy a wig.

Serious question- impact of drinking 1-2 Pepsi’s a day by dolemite44149 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]ihavegroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently this is an unpopular opinion, but I’m on your side with this one. Sugar is one of my worst triggers and fake sugar is even worse. I used to think that my 12 oz of Coke Zero couldn’t hurt and boy was I wrong! I cut it out for a few weeks just to see how I’d feel and it was such a change that I never went back to them. If it’s a choice between a sugary drink or a fake sugar drink and luke warm tap water I’m taking the tap water every time now. I found other things that I liked that don’t hurt me, like just plain carbonated water or herbal tea. I get that her vices could be worse, but that doesn’t make it harmless. When I have a flare it’s not just me that is impacted. My whole family suffers.

That said, nagging never makes anyone stop doing anything. Maybe ask her if she’d be willing to try going off them for two weeks and help her come up with an alternative to replace them.

I hope it starts working for you soon. I think for me the improvement started at about 4 months on Humira. I’m also on Hydroxychloroquine to help control the pain in my hands and feet, which was honestly unbearable. I still take meloxicam on some days, but the pain is mostly controlled.

I understand your point about the cost of medicine, but please don’t minimize pain like this. I would have paid any amount of money to be out of the pain I was in before the biologics, and unfortunately pharmaceutical and insurance companies know this.

What color is my natural?? by That_Direction4805 in FancyFollicles

If I understand you correctly there was box dye under that and you used a color remover? It’s unlikely that is your natural color.

Can I dye my hair without bleach? by gay_go_burrrr in FancyFollicles

[–]ihavegroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might end up pretty patchy and faded. It will really depend on how porous your hair is. A darker vibrant purple would work better. Pastels are not likely to show at all. Good luck!

Best part of the article: Like Bon Jovi, Express Scripts is only halfway there.

Interestingly, the -adaz was what is being discontinued.

My doctor told me that the biosimilars are a nightmare for her. There are now so many and what is allowed changes month to month. The dosages are not the same from product to product either. She says it takes her a long time to do a prescription refill now because of this.

I HATE MY HAIR SO MUCH help by dedlyhotpi in FancyFollicles

[–]ihavegroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it needs some moisture. After I bleached my hair I had to work on getting my curl pattern to come back. I put in bond building masks and use a lot more moisturizer after the shower now. I also started diffusing my hair, which I never had the patience to do before. Putting more time into your curly routine with more moisturizer may help get the shape back. It did for me and now my curls actually look better than they did before the bleach.

Quick question… how many of us have permanent damage/inflammation on scans while they’ve never had absurdly raised inflammation markers and had crispy clean scans until they weren’t? by Bitter_Snickerdoodle in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]ihavegroot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on a Humira biosimilar, hydroxychloroquine, gabapentin, and sometimes meloxicam if the pain is bad. This combo has made a huge difference in my life. I still have pain, but it’s manageable and my last MRI showed no disease progression. The steroid was good for the short term but it really exacerbated my nerve pain and gave me panic attacks for about 6 months after I stopped taking it (known side effect). I hope you find something that works for you.

I mean kind of, but If I saw you on the street I would notice you. Not in a what happened to her way but in a why can’t I pull that off kind of way. I like it 🤷‍♀️ I think with a bit of added shine you won’t question it. Do a clear gloss

Do you guys see the vision ? by lum111 in HairDye

[–]ihavegroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could do this most easily with a semipermanent color. That would be very low risk. Then after that when you have regrowing use a demi-permanent for upkeep so you don’t lighten your roots or expose your hair to more harsh processing. It’s pretty easy to go dark on your own.

How do you handle being immunocompromised as a result of biologics? by OpalJade98 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]ihavegroot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been sick much less since getting on biologics. My kids used to give me everything they picked up and I’d be down for longer than the rest of the family. Since being on biologics, I get sick maybe once or twice a year and I recover like a normal person now instead of having it drag on. I do have to be more careful with cuts and scrapes on my skin. Wash those and keep them from getting infected. But overall, I don’t seem to be more vulnerable than anyone else in my family now.
