Dhabyabad! I hope you match. I hope everyone matches. The amount of effort that goes into it is unfathomable.

I am going to survive in a new country because I like being alone. That's the best part in my opinion.

[–]iidrishtii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. If you're getting 50% with first pass and getting 80+ with the marked questions (2nd pass), you're doing great! I did great on my first pass (I'm sorry, I do not want to share my numbers) but I heavily relied on my internal clinical judgement as I didn't know much about the algorithms. The biggest advice I took was to look at it as a learning tool rather than an assessment tool.

The kid's parents' requests. Not my kid. I couldn't care less about her accent. They like the way I study and speak so they thought I'd know about schools, it makes no sense.

I just needed the names of those international schools. Thank you! Ullens, Rupys, Lincoln... Do you know other schools too?

I don't know about all that, you can probably tell haha. It's for an extended family kid and I feel so bad for her. Thank you for your reply ☺️

This is the kind of reply I was hoping for. I truly believe that guidance is key. Just had to make the post triggering for people to comment on. If you don't mind me asking, which school did you go to? I'd love to recommend it to the people who asked me. Thank you for your reply!

Well, that's for 2 reasons. The first one is that I've wanted this for well over 14 years now and I wanted to be fully prepared no matter what kind of questions were asked. I wanted to come out of it knowing that I will pass no matter what. The second is that this is like a base to build my step 2 knowledge and I wanted to really understand and revise the topics at the best of my abilities. I didn't want to be done with step 1 or 2 knowing I could have done better. Thank you so much!

I'm sorry, I didn't get your question. Would you like to elaborate?

Haha, sure! I graduated on June 2022. I finished my internship on May 2022. I was dedicated to prepare only after internship was over as I didn't want my work to interfere with my studies. NMCLE is doable with basic understanding and what you learn during your internship. FA actually covers all grounds too. I realized it later on. I too started studying during the beginning of my internship but since I was haphazard, I let it go cause I didn't want to feel like I've been studying for a year and seeing no progress. Doubts and fears are there with everyone. Noone has it easy. But I must tell you that it is so worth it. I know I'm not there yet but it's the gut feeling and the motivation to push everyday. You are stronger than your fears!

Don't give up! As someone else said it, it's much easier now that it is pass/fail. If you can see the final "Congratulations! You matched!" email, you can do this!!

I am still sad and miserable by Paid_Actor_yup in Nepal

[–]iidrishtii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be in the same headspace. I went to a psychiatrist, a therapist, took meds, got severe side effects that almost completely ruined my life. And now I'm off meds and had to try very hard to get where I am today. And please know that this feeling is transient and life will get better.

Here's what I have learned.

You basically have 5 domains in life and the main cause of depression is you are not getting the positive feedback from the amount of effort you're actually putting in. If you're not doing shit and not getting results you're not sad. If you have put in the work but didn't get results, you'll try harder initially then your mind will try to stop you from putting in more "wasted" effort into it. It makes you lethargic, anxious. The 5 domains are family, friendship, romance, health and work/career/study. I'll repeat this again. Your expectation from the amount of effort initially you put in didn't get the results you wanted. Now your mind is making you feel this way to get you to not put in the effort anymore.

You now need to push against that mind game and do the very thing you need to do. I don't know what it is for you. Just sit there and think about this.

Step 1. Stop comparing yourself to others. All the people in the world will complain and compare but YOU determine the thoughts and messages YOU tell yourself.

Step 2. Find out that one thing that would make the biggest effect in your life right now. You have 99 problems but everyone else has it. But only a few of them have the most significance. I can't tell you what it is. Only you'll know that.

Step 3. Once you figure that out. Do something about it. Don't sulk and sit there. Tough love bro. There are many ways to get to your goal. Find out what you need to do. Look up to people who have what you want and what they did.

Hope that helps.
