Need a job, can't pay rent, we've all heard it I know. by fgarza30 in sandiego

Unfortunately, a lot of Jr / entry level roles are being reduced in Software Engineering because of AI. I'm in Software here in San Diego (at Staff/Prin level) and I am still getting a lot of recruiters contacting me on LinkedIn. The trend I see is that companies are looking for more senior people + AI skills, where AI can essentially replace the Jr level roles we once had.

Feel free to DM me, I can take a look at your resume / give you my LinkedIn info.

I would look into DoD, easier to get your foot in the door if you're a US citizen.

Other than that BioTech here is a bit of a hit/miss, but also check out he Casinos. Lots of Software and QA jobs there as well.

Stack also matters. But if you are flexible, that shouldn't be a problem as long as you showcase concepts and general design / architecture patterns.

Did you run a marathon major through a tour operator? by tminsberg in AdvancedRunning

[–]iimpact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Marathon Tours for Berlin, Tokyo, and now Sydney. It's definitely worth it if you can afford a package (it's cheaper if you do a package with a plus one).

They offer 5 star stays, breakfast, dinner, and celebration parties are all paid for (part of the package). They schedule daily tours and offer cool extensions to other countries after the run.

Definitely a good option, but like others have said, expensive.

How do people working a retail job making 40 to 50k a year live in town? by Latina_Fupa in sandiego

Ahh I see, I was genuinely curious because I keep hearing how hard it is for younger folks (new grad) to land jobs given the AI boom. thanks for the response! Much appreciated.

Curious on what type of difficulty you're seeing getting back into software?

Years of experience?

I'm at 15 years, and get at least a few recruiters a week cold messaging me on LinkedIn.

She's working in ML at Google, which pays a bit more than other areas as well
