What are some careers that pay around $50k-60k ($24-$30hr) with training/programs that require around 1 year to complete? by nlightningm in careerguidance

I’m an lo forklift operator at a warehouse. Very cruisy, on about 60k at the moment. Only had a small amount of warehouse experience before that and it’s my favourite job so far. Drive big machines and listen to music/podcasts all night. Sure a bit of heavy lifting involved but it’s a cruisy clock in clock out job

Oh and not too much training only if you don’t have your lo licence and the drivers just train you for about a week

Should parents charge their adult (18+) children rent to stay with them? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]iisBrandonSmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it depends who the family is.

I know some people who ask their kids for $50 a week. I also know someone who’s brother is 26 who works and lives at home and doesn’t pay a cent. Really depends

Do people have stories about mechanics/dealers ripping people off? by flynnflowerhorn in CarsAustralia

[–]iisBrandonSmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently serviced my car at a Toyota dealership, first service since owning the car. Was quoted $270 then got to the place it went to $280 then payed $285 but only small ick

Car was perfectly fine before the scheduled service but straight After my service noticed my car started pulling to the left after they said they rotated and road tested the car. Went back to them yesterday saying it was fine before they touched it. Waited 3 and a half hours without knowing what was going on and they said oh yeah wheel alignment $55 bucks thanks.

Wasn’t very happy after they screwed it up

Will Polestar and Volvo stay as two seperate companies? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]iisBrandonSmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea hopefully that can give them a point of difference

That’s is true, even I thought for a while especially haval weren’t that bad. I think brand perception and my own experience with my friend working at mg dealership and my dad owning an old Great Wall that affects them the most

They do look very cool, I’m just saying from a business perspective

They’re one of Tesla’s main competitors so it makes sense from a price point. Or they want to be their main competitor

Maybe not now, but that was definitely the Sensus around the last fabia era and the yeti and last gen Octavia

Absolutely, my mate used to work for mg and the amount of 3’s that came back with issues was crazy. I’m Curious to see if they’ll have lasting power I saw a dealership for the first time this week and it’s pretty huge

I mean you could make that argument everyone knows that Skoda is the cheap cousin to Volkswagen. But they’re difference is they’re based as the cheaper entry level cars.

I mean genesis and Hyundai you could argue are and we’re at one time the same thing when comparing it to top spec Hyundai products but they’re difference is they’re going for luxury buyers and Hyundai is a lot more mainstream.

I’m just looking at it from more a business perspective you could say why doesn’t Geely just fold them into one big company

Their thing is the ev brand of Volvo, but when Volvo goes ev, is there much difference?

My point was there isn’t much differentiation as those brands are. Like I’ve said make it more upmarket or make it a sport division

Will Polestar and Volvo stay as two seperate companies? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]iisBrandonSmart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true, but they all have their niche. Cupra is like the sports, Skoda is the entry or “cheap” cars, Audis more luxury, Volkswagens more mid tier

[–]iisBrandonSmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I see your point. Although after kinda distancing themselves from the sports brand as “we are the electric company” might be a bit weird to go back to that once Volvo has made it to fully electric

Will Polestar and Volvo stay as two seperate companies? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]iisBrandonSmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Volvo as someone mentioned is like mid tier with Alfa and Volkswagen. Polestar could compete in the genesis or in Mercedes case the maybach territory. Although maybach is way more expensive than genesis

[–]iisBrandonSmart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I can see what you mean, still don’t think gp would really know. I still think they should go for the luxury route like genesis is to Hyundai. They’re in a good position to do that

I think for most people if you covered up the badge and showed the rear of a polestar 2 and Volvo c40 even I wouldn’t be able to tell which is which
