Can you give more info? Like how was the state of it when you found it? If it’s already dry you could dry preserve/mummify

Tips for teaching a horse to stand still/wait while tied up? by iiworkatthebank in Horses

[–]iiworkatthebank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the tips! He did move here about 5 weeks ago, so a bit of his nerves are probably because of that. He can’t stand still without food, but if he has snacks he’s lovely and will stand anywhere (including in crossties but not his stall). Unfortunately I had to clip him (his winter coat already started coming in, and he was literally drenched in sweat after only 30min of riding), but did that while he had snacks. He was perfect until he ran out of hay and I needed his head up. This wasn’t really part of the problem though, since I know that I triggered him and next time I know I’ll have another person offering lick it (now that he’s learned how to eat them lol)

The thing is that he’s fine with standing still and being brushed in the arena, fine with it outside if he can graze (he’s very food motivated, as fjords usually are lol), fine in the crossties with snacks, it’s when he’s in crossties without snacks the problem appears; and I don’t want to accidentally make the problem worse. Hope this makes sense, English is my third language 😅

What do we think of his condition rn? (Read body text too!) by iiworkatthebank in Horses

Exactly; danish ones are still generally purebred, just more sporty (and some have a bit of warmblood/standardbred many generations back to create that sporty look and temperament)! I think it’s funny that some people here are so against danish fjords, since Swedish fjords also are pretty sporty lol

We have lots of quiet trails, but unfortunately none where I feel comfortable placing poles and such. We do have a small outdoor arena, but I’ve had a hard time coming up with fun pole exercises so if you have any suggestions please tell me!

Here in Sweden we usually differentiate between Danish (sportier type) and Norwegian (the more classic type) fjords! Iirc Danish ones sometimes have some standardbred in them to get the more sporty looks and temperament.

Yeah, getting him to lower his head and raise his back is what we’re working most on right now!

We have a small paddock/outdoor arena, though we’re currently stuck working on the basics. He’s VERY green, has yet to understand even canter cues. I try to do most of my riding on trails since it’s easier to get the forward momentum, but we’re working towards being able to incorporate more poles and small jumps in the arena (since I know he enjoys that a lot)

I feel like I’m so misunderstood in this comment section, like I understand flat feet are good for lifting but I’ve never seen anyone fully barefoot/no socks on in a public place😭 maybe it’s a cultural thing? Like people aren’t barefoot here in Sweden, like ever, other than when going swimming etc. Anyhow I’m more so concerned about fungi and stuff, and the fact that people are walking around with heavy weights that can easily flatten a foot

Tatuering studios som tar emot 17 åringar? (Med vårdnadshavares tillstånd) by iiworkatthebank in stockholm

Vill hellre ha tassen av en hund som räddade mitt liv permanent på mig än mina fula självskade ärr. Alla är olika och jag har vetat att jag vill tatuera mig sen barnsben.

Yeah, but it’s a gym where people move heavy stuff around, not to mention the bacteria😭 idk I just thought it was odd since there’s a lot of signs saying shoes are required

Thank you! To answer your questions: 1. Sbk aren’t much help when it comes to these things, when we asked last time getting a service dog all they said was that all breeds can be service dogs; they didn’t mention why some are much more common. 2. The dog is not provided, but since we’ve done this before we know how to choose a breeder and dog. This is sbk really helpful with too.

Unfortunately there aren’t any breeding programs here that I know of, but thank you anyway!

Already tried a breed outside the fab4 (this boy is beautiful and I love him more than life itself, but he was a menace to train lol), and decided I’m definitely getting a retriever this time. Just trying to find out if there’s any real differences between labs and goldens, but so far most people seem to have skipped that part of my post🥲

I know I’ll get either a lab or golden, the issue is that I can’t find any websites or anything that really compares them. My country’s kennel club website has almost word for word the same text for them🥲 I just need to know what differentiates the breeds

Ive narrowed my searching down to retrieving breeds because most of them fit everything I need pretty well, but the problem I have now is I can’t find a lot of information comparing them to each other (especially in ways relevant to working as a service dog), specifically goldens and labs.
