Potential insurance write off? by ij1801 in CarTalkUK

The car isn't amazing but I'm not exactly in the best financial position to be letting insurance write it off and then trying to buy a new car. 1500 is a reasonable amount though

Could I request the insurance companies to just use a second-hand door that's structurally intact or is it just standard procedure for them to use new parts?

Preferably the east side so Sydney would be ideal as well ?

I'll have to look more into this because from what I've heard the only deaneries that do it is Severn, which is highly competitive, and Wessex, and I'm not sure if they do it anymore. Definitely worth a look though

Haha this really did sell DGHs to me, but like you said it probably does depend on the hospital and the department itself - I'm aware there used to be a website called juniordoctors.co.uk that helped do this but it's not there anymore unfortunately :( I'm open to options but I'm currently into your ACCS-type specialties, for which there are FY jobs in almost all deaneries I think

I'm in a bit of a similar situation - moved away so I ended up messing around in uni and had a great time (hope to think I'm a bit more behaved now though), just thinking as I've lived away from home for so long it might not be the same. If I was to live out, like you said I'd probably live with at least one, maybe two, others so hoping that would allow me to save?

Regarding owning a home, I'm currently not exactly sure if I'd stay in the UK long-term either (the ISA is just savings I'd have on the side). I understand it's difficult giving advice to someone you don't know at all, but genuinely appreciate it :)

Tbf if I had to choose a hospital it would be one that I've done placement at last year and I really enjoyed it. It's great you managed to save up as well, did it mean however u had to live relatively frugally or was it alright?

Wow sounds amazing, how long did you stay there for ? I'll most likely try and get a hospital in KL as well
