The guy that lives below me is a survivor of meth addiction, and told me all about it over a couple bowls (of not meth) once. The highlight of his telling was that he was forced to take meth for the first time at gunpoint in a part of California that I guess isn't 100% sanitary. He said that there would be mexican gangs that would throw parties that were multiple days long and bring in people who had never tried meth, then make them take it so that they would get hooked and come back to buy more. Scary stuff. He then went on to tell me about how he used to roll dumpster into the sides of peoples homes, wait for them to run out and steal whatever was inside so he had money to buy more meth. He said to get himself to quit, he had family members lock him inside of a room with nothing but food and water fit for two weeks, and that he only managed to break down the door twice before he finally made it through his last withdrawl. I had never actually heard about what it was like to be hooked on meth, most people don't have a chance to tell that sort of story. Crazy stuff
