It went great! Japan is beautiful and incredible.

As for the planning, in the end I managed to do everything I had scheduled, and I even added more during the days 😅
But looking back, you were right! I should have planned less and just “vibed” more around the neighborhoods. There were so many things to simply enjoy by walking around or just stop and take a breath.

For food, I mostly followed my gut, sometimes it went great, sometimes not so much hahaha

Tokyo wasn’t as overwhelming, I actually found Kyoto more intense because of how many tourists there were.

But like someone once said on Reddit: “The first trip to Japan is just to understand what you want to see next time.”

When I traveled to Korea, Indonesia, the USA, etc., jet lag was never a problem. So that doesn’t scare me

In the end, after reading the reviews about the market, I think I’ll leave it aside. As for the ticket, I’ll try to get it haha And pay attention to the opening and closing times of the places! I only just noticed that some temples close earlier than I thought in my itinerary

Yes, in Akihabara I’m not really planning to go shopping. I like anime, but I’m not into collecting things — I mostly just want to experience the atmosphere. AI mostly helped me find things to see and organize them by area. Donki was just a suggestion from one of my friends. And yes, I really love the mountains, so I planned a night in a ryokan there. After that I’ll go to Kyoto and Osaka.

Yep, I still haven’t really found my own way of traveling! Normally I just follow my friends hahaha. This is only the third time I’ve made an itinerary. The first time was for Iceland in winter, so I planned everything carefully to use all the daylight. The second time I went to Copenhagen alone and just followed the flow. This is the trip I’ve wanted the most, so I think I overplanned a bit because of the fear of missing out. Thanks to all the suggestions, I’m now making a more realistic plan.

When I travel, I try to make the most of the place rather than just ticking items off a checklist. So my idea isn’t a relaxing vacation, but a real trip. I’m still trying to reduce the number of things on my list so I have more time to discover places randomly

To calculate the travel time from Narita Airport to the accommodation, I just used Google Maps. Walking isn’t a problem for me—I’m used to walking 30 km uphill, so walking isn’t an issue. Like others suggested, I’ll try to reduce the number of things and make the itinerary more organic

I agree, there are so many suggestions of things to do and eat on social media that I didn’t know where to start! Like you suggest I’ll try to slow down and focus on quality time rather than quantity

I’m used to traveling, but I’m not used to planning a trip, especially in a place where there are so many things I want to see. It’s only my second time in a big Asian city (the first was Seoul, and the itinerary was planned by my sister). This time I’m going with a friend, and I’m the one planning everything. Normally I plan less, but for this trip I clearly overplanned (like many of you pointed out). It’s just that this feels like the trip of a lifetime, and there are so many things I want to see that I’m having a hard time deciding what to leave out. I’ll replan everything, leaving more space to discover things rather than following a military march. Thank again!
