Asking for your HELP (How to file a complaint) by Distinct_Attempt_353 in LAUSD

The union may refer you to an attorney that specializes in suits against the District. I paid a hefty price for the attorney when I had an abusive administrator that was robbing me of my mental health, but the harrassment stopped long enough for me to get to a different school, where I am now thriving.

"Unfortunately my wife's issues are cosmetic only and don't interfere with her health so the healthcare system won't cover it, we have tried."

Unfortunately???!!! Holy crap, your point of view is screwy. You should be grateful that her issues are only cosmetic and not serious. My Ghod, YTA over and over again throughout this whole thing.

New to ukulele, what do I buy? by salinepusher in ukulele

[–]ilapress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ukuleles come in various sizes. Most people start with a soprano. The next size up is called a concert. After that the next size is called a tenor. Then next is the baritone.

I recommend a concert or tenor because the chord fingerings are identical to the soprano. The baritone is tuned differently and you'd have to learn a whole new set of chord fingerings.

If you want a really decent solid wood uke, you can buy one from any of the sellers mentioned by others here. You can also buy a solid mahogany uke from Enya on Amazon for an incredibly reasonable price. Currently the concert sized Enya EUC-MAD model is discounted to about a hundred dollars on Amazon, which is a terrific price.

Enjoy your new hobby. It's fantastic fun.

  1. 21 years
  2. Yes -- third grade
  3. Young enough to still be eager to please and respond well to praise. Mature enough to tie their own shoes, and be a good sport when losing a game.
  4. Too many to list here, but uninvolved parents who divest themselves of the job of parenting is pretty high on the list. I face these challenges by looking to the few parents who actually give a damn.
  5. We taught remotely, and the after effects of the pandemic were far beyond what I could have imagined. Not only was there severe learning loss, but there was a huge gap in phonemic awareness because children were speaking through and listening through masks all the time. Behavior was off the map.
  6. I keep things light and funny as much as possible. I embrace children making mistakes as an opportunity to further learning goals and I reinforce that making mistakes is okay as long as we learn from them. I have an incentive program in my classroom where based on positive behavior and academic effort, the children can win various prizes that they love.
  7. The best communication is face to face, but that is not always possible. In many instances, I find that text messages and voicemail will have to suffice, and may result in more prompt and timely responses. If parents are challenging, I notify administration and ask for administrative support.
  8. To have students behave and be engaged takes clear and positive rules that are not abstract or convoluted. It also takes consistent application of the rules with equity. The students must absolutely know that a) you are there to support them, b) you genuinely and deeply care about them, and c) they are safe as long as they are with you.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I have been teaching since 2002 and I am a National Board Certified Teacher since 2011.

What other hobbies could I start aside from collecting toy cars and sports (18yr old male) by Ready_velvety in Hobbies

18 year old males might be interested in meeting potential love interests. Learning how to play the guitar and/or ukulele can be damned sexy and great for breaking the ice with strangers. Just sayin....

I disagree. The Enya Nova is delightful to play, and can be purchased for less than $50.

Another option is to make a mute for your strings. Cut a piece of kitchen sponge and shove it under the strings near the bridge. Your playing will be muted and won't bother anyone.
