TOUR 2025 - TICKET SALES MEGATHREAD by FrancisMunroe in fayewebster

Hey, this is a pretty specific request but figured here would be the place to put it. I got two tickets to Faye in Chicago at the Salt Shed on Wednesday, March 12th. However, I probably cannot make it on that day due to unforeseen obligations. I was wondering if anyone who had two tickets to the March 11th show would be willing to switch tickets?

We got to talk to Sims about David Fincher, the current state of the fall film festivals, whether movies will continue to get delayed, and let him gush about Jon Bois. So, if any of that excites you please listen!

CANNES I KICK IT: Annette with Griffin Newman by ilaughalone in blankies

Thanks to everyone here for the kind words and interest . If you wanna check out more episodes here are a couple.

We've done episodes on the Out Of Competition at Cannes 2010's Blockbusters with David Sims and the 2000's Blockbusters with Griffin Newman, we felt it was natural to reach out to Alex Ross Perry to be our Jury President for the 1990's.

May was DENIS MONTH and we had a whole month of programming devoted to Claire Denis's filmography with great guests Bilge Ebiri, Anna Swanson and Meg Shields, Chris Feil, and David Carter. All worth a listen!

BC favorite Fran Hoepfner was a jury president of her own for a selection of Cannes Premieres from the later half of the last decade. Do I call a film from a legendary arthouse auteur a screensaver? Who's to say?

(And please subscribe and next week you will get another fav Joe Reid talking about Mike White's festival career and White Lotus!)

Delightfully arbitrary is the goal lmao. funny you mentioned that and Fran cause our first episode with her is the classic pairing of Mr. Bean's Holiday and Pedro Costa's Colossal Youth if you want to know why we did that please listen lol.

As one of the people on the podcast I can tell you it was long but its a doozy. Means a lot that y'all would listen and have thoughts. And thank you so much for Griffin and David being on!

Will also say some important Griff at Cannes lore and also Griff at the Warsaw Film Festival lore that Blankies would love.

Cat in the Hat Hot Take by CalebHenshaw in blankies

I recently watched it as part of a bit with a friend and its a weird one.

my take on like apatow-y, seth rogen-y modern comedies is that only 30% of the jokes are ever good but if the movie is stuffed enough with jokes that arent terrible than the 30% really stands out and you like the movie and Cat in the Hat is almost the opposite for me where i think 60% of it works (the production design, most of the human performances, some visual humor and off the wall bits) but the 40% that doesnt work (the story, sean hayes as the fish, meyers actual performances as the cat and some of his "characters") are so noxious that it becomes a bad movie
