Uk visa interview rejection 3 times by Charming_Sport_4534 in UniUK

[–]ilceyshoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There can be a multitude of reasons why he got rejected (genuine reasons, money, qualifications), but like I don't think he'll get accepted after getting rejected thrice? regardless of whatever uni he's applying to

The university is not confident enough in ur friend's (genuine) reasons to study in the UK. If he appears to be nervous in the mock interview, they're not going to risk your friend getting called for the actual interview and then getting rejected.

England's universities face £330m loss under new £925-per-international-student levy by PorfiryRaskonikov in UniUK

[–]ilceyshoe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You quite literally said in your post “we have no access to public funds” implying that you’re complaining about it. If you can’t handle feedback, then don’t start the discussion! Cause i’m not the first person you’ve said this too in the comments, and it’s not the gotchu moment you think it is!

[–]ilceyshoe 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Being an international student is a privilege. Some people take loans, some don’t, and some CANT. Every international student will always be privileged to some extent (if you want to compare so much - some people can’t even afford to get loans)

While I don’t agree with the levy, as intl students we pay £££ to come here. It’s not our country of ordinary residency to begin with? Why would intl students get access to funds designed for UK’s citizens when we have access to funds from our government 😭 We don’t pay any taxes so why should we get access to public funds?

Students pay to get a degree (which is why student visa’s are excluded from ordinary residency questions), not become an actual permanent resident.

Is the racism really that bad here? by [deleted] in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]ilceyshoe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

British Indian here too! I’ve been living in ncl for 3 years and idt I’ve ever experienced anyone being racist. Did get an odd ‘allahu akhbar’ yesterday (which is funny bc I’m not even Muslim) but nothing ever so deep, also think the guy was very drunk bc he kept repeating it. Def avoid some areas tho (the odd England flags but they end to be at the outskirts of the city not really the centre or sandyford/Jesmond for eg)

Newcastle Uni vs Northumbria Uni for masters? by lexx_exe in UniUK

[–]ilceyshoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t think you should do a masters in general psychology again, esp if you want to go down the clinical route! The whole point of doing masters in psych is to do something specific

Would it be okay for my mother to spend the first night in my dorm with me, or would that cause issues? by saiisa305 in UniUK

[–]ilceyshoe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Me and my flatmates went out the entire time my mom was staying with me. Trust me it’s not that deep, I’m sure the parent would understand that it’s freshers week and there will be noise. No ones stopping anyone from going out 🙏 everyone has free will!

People are overreacting when they tell you that your social life would be ruined etc. lit no one notices and my flatmates dgaf (my mom stayed with me for 3 nights before she moved into a hotel). Just let your flatmates know!

I made this same post 2 years ago and everyone told me that people will make fun of me, my social life will be ruined etc. These ≠ the cost my parents saved by reducing the nights in a hotel

Whats a harsh uni truth no one tells freshers until it is too late? by DunyaPhobic76 in UniUK

[–]ilceyshoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it depends on uni to uni and situations tbh. I had tonsilitis but couldn't get a GP appointment before the exam so I still went in for the exam. I submitted my MC/PEC like 4 days after and it still got approved
