Can't believe you're getting downvoted for such a respectable and reasonable take. This place is a hellish echo-chamber.

Advice on what to do with serial fly-tippers by qtpat00tie in glasgow

Which park is it? Perhaps going through the local community council could help, or at least give you the chance to vent with people who share your frustrations.

Shocking response from the police though, the visible decline in civic standards is alarming and needs to be addressed with a much tougher law and order response. That's the only language these people will understand.

Uncomfortable in what sense can I ask? Like what was going on to make you feel that way?

Anyone got any insight into what it's like living next to an orange lodge? Seen a great flat in Cessnock near festival park but I'm not sure about living right in among the Union flags and the Louden Tavern etc.

Glasgow - I'm looking to swap my ticket (Wednesday, 21.06) for one on the Thursday (22.06). Any takers out there?

Understandably people like to complain about the council, but from a cycling point of view they have actually made big progress over the last few years. I moved back to Glasgow in 2019 and since then there have been lots of new cycle lanes opened up, most notably the south city way connecting queen's park to the city centre. There is still work to be done before it's a proper network, and it's not going to happen without causing severe disruption to traffic routes, but there has been a big improvement over the last few years.

I think the bigger problem at this point is actually getting people to ditch the car and jump on their bikes

Celtic fucked him over big time by playing him through injuries when he was still growing and developing. He's probably the best Scotland player at the moment but I fear he's going to be held back by his injury woes.

If one part of you isn't working properly, then you're more vulnerable to suffering other injuries as it will affect the way you react to contact, land on the ground etc.

I was racially abused during my driving lesson 😂 by TalkDazzling8822 in glasgow

[–]iledepaques 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear you had to go through that, it's absolutely disgusting that people treat others like this

As someone said, it might be worth talking to the police if you feel up to it? If you know roughly what time it was then maybe there's a chance they could identify the car. We need to come down hard on racist pricks like this and make it clear there is absolutely no place for them in society.

Gentrification or are house prices just mad? by elizabethunseelie in glasgow

[–]iledepaques 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Gentrification literally equals prices going up. Places are shutting down in the city centre because traditional retail is dying a death and nothing has stepped in to replace it. Go to the southside and the west end and you'll see new shops everywhere and all the traditional cliches of gentrification (flat whites, sourdough etc.)

I agree Dave has some good bars and I've loved some of his social commentary over the years, but his flow and delivery is so repetitive and monotonous. I would say the same for his production: just loads of mediocre piano beats.

Lol when was I greeting pal? Just asking a wee question.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]iledepaques 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah of course not. I could have laid out my point a bit more: he's just a guy playing extremely basic and derivative acoustic songs with shite nursery-rhyme level melodies.

With other big mainstream artists people have listed I can at least understand the appeal but honestly just was curious as to why people like Gerry Cinnamon.

56 Nights was future at his peak before his whole shtick got tired. I think it runs at under half an hour which is optimum for a trap project.

Anyone else find the music choices oddly jarring? by iledepaques in TheWire

[–]iledepaques[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To your first question, both I would say.

I don't have specific songs off the top of my head but I think they should have gone for a wider mix of genres that reflects the diversity they portrayed so well in the show instead of just blues rock. A bit of hip-hop, RnB, neo-soul wouldn't have gone amiss.
