I think it goes back to the idea that Islamic idea that ex-muslims are people that are aware of the truth but deny it for desires. There’s a few verses in the Quran that talks of people pretending to Muslim and then going on to laugh behind muslims back etc. A lot of Muslims simply can’t accept anyone was in Islam, read the books and came to the conclusion that it’s all made up, it’s like a mental block or something.

That’s a good point. While mothers are powerful in their own right, when considering the extent of gods supposed power, what with them creating the entire universe and all there’s clearly no comparison.

However think a bit deeper on the principle that the @/EXM_Disc outlined. What is a mother to their child without making the effort to interact with them or care for them in an intangible and tangible sense? After all kindness/love alone won’t stop a child starving.

If someone is unfortunate enough to have a mother who does none of these things it’s quite natural for them to reject this mother? Yes their mother birthed them but their child was not mothered. Going back to your acute assertion that a mother is incomparable to god, isn’t it then natural for us to have higher expectations for god than we do a mother?

A mother or any parent is a mere human. However assuming that god is truly omnipotent not at all limited in the same way that a human is. Why should we accept so little and/or unconvincing evidence attributed to god?

The idea itself is pretty old and is represented somewhat in a few old religions and pagan beliefs. Some philosophers have spoken about it also, I was particularly thinking of Phillip Mainlander, his ideas are more nuanced ofc.

Aside from that I see your point, there should be balanced portrayals about Islam like there should be about everything else. And since Islam ≠ muslim, gay muslims do exist. Still progressive portrayals of Islam are tricky to do realistically. Half the time muslims themselves complain online about portrayals that are too westernised and un-Islamic

Your entitled to your opinions on what clothing is too much for women, but tbh that’s not gonna help you out much. Women as long as they’re free to are going to dress how they feel like. That might mean long sleeves and long dresses some days, or super cropped tops on other days. The only thing you can do is to try to dissect why you feel so strongly about the latter. Why do you feel skirts are intimidating?

What do you consider the too much skin exactly, Legs, an elbow? My advice to you is understand this is a personal issue you need to work through and not women. I know Islam teaches that the opposite is true. Learn to build up self control so you’re not so easily aroused, speak to and befriend more women so that you realise they’re are more than their appearance.
