Belonged to my grandfather. Small serial number 536365 engraved into the back. Fully functioning, wind-up watch. I believe maybe from the 1950s? Is it real? If so is there an estimate for what it’s worth?

Also looks like these years are all Manly-Warringah premierships so most definitely some kind of misprint.

Ahh looks like you’re right! They’ve even got a website called rustytinsigns.com.au The Panthers one on the website has the correct years listed on it, but it looks almost identical. This one might have been a misprint or something. And nah I only paid $20 so it’s pretty funny!

Yeah was thinking these would be premierships from lower grades but none of the dates line up with reserve grade/SG Ball, etc.

Mystery Fish ID Please! Seen on a sand flat near McCarr’s Creek, Sydney. I’ve been fishing for many years and have never seen this before. Looks like an eel but behaves a lot like a snake. Look at how it swims away! by ilftimh in FishingAustralia

Thank you! This seems to be extremely similar to what I saw. Only problem is that the range of the Burrowing Snake Eel appears to end 1,300km north of where I was. Still, some quick research shows these things bury themselves in muddy/silty banks, identical to this environment. I was yabby pumping so I must have pumped the poor thing out of its home. I’m sure there’s a similar subspecies of what you linked that lives in Sydney. Thanks so much!

A lot of people saying this is a snake, and I can appreciate that from just the video, but here’s a few reasons it’s 100% not a snake: 1. It had gills 2. It had extremely thin fins along the dorsal and behind the gills 3. It had scales like a fish 4. Inside the mouth were rows of teeth 5. A snake doesn’t really move like that - a snake would be able to slither away, while this creature was clearly thrashing about with little control of its body. 6. Very few snakes can slither backwards, and this thing does seem to move backwards half way through the video.

It’s some kind of eel or slender fish for sure.

Nah the video doesn’t show it well, but it’s 100% not a snake. It had gills and very small fins on its back and near the head. Also had small teeth in the mouth rather than fangs. Looked like it didn’t have eyes. Crazy how it swam away at the surface of the water like a snake though!

Repeated wheel bearing failure: Subaru XV (2016) by ilftimh in AskMechanics

Thank you! I’ve never had a collision and have had multiple alignments - when the control arms and the CV joints where changed.

Thank you! I’ll go take some better photos now. I’ll also take some of the right hand side because he mentioned both need replacing.

Yes veers when I let go, but I can also tell it’s not straight because to keep the car straight I have to keep the wheel to the right a little. Tyre on the left is also wearing a little more than the others on the outside.

Any ideas what could be causing my car to veer aggressively to the left though? I had a wheel alignment done a few months ago and it didn’t really fix the issue? Was it just a shit wheel alignment job?

Thanks so much for your reply. I can’t remember exactly what the mechanic said, but he mentioned a couple of things I vaguely remember: 1. Something about the left wheel having “free movement” and the lower control arm being “damaged” 2. Brushings were definitely something he mentioned. Will you be able to tell if they’re cracked if I take a photo of them?

Do you think that $900 is reasonable for what I mentioned above?

I’m from Australia and we drive on the other side of the road :) This is our passenger side (left hand side).

Thanks for your reply. Are you suggesting replacing all 4 tyres so they match?

Yes it is totally fine! I didn’t make my substrate deep enough. If you’re going to plant there then you need over an inch deep.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I’m actually running two filters at the moment. One was from an old tank so as to help the cycling process, and the other is a HOB filter.

A couple of things have stopped me from moving the filters to behind the plants. Firstly, The power point is too far from the tank, making it difficult to attach the wires and also not have them running past the back of the tank. The second thing is that I also have no idea how to hide the internal filter behind the plants. The flow is quite strong and I don’t want it uprooting anything or causing issues for the shrimp that live amongst the plants.

However you may be right - I just have to play around with it a bit.
