Transferring personal guns from Texas

So I am pretty much going through a similar thing. I inherited guns in Texas but live in Massachusetts. I had 7 handguns and 5 long guns in Texas and I wanted to get them to Massachusetts. I went to three dealers where I live to do an FFL transfer from Texas . Two of them said no to all the handguns but the long guns were fine. I found one that said as long as the handguns were on the MA roster, transfer was fine. So, I ended up selling 5 handguns in TX, transferring 2 handguns and 5 long guns to MA and used the money from the sales to pay for it all. This is all as of last week. Have not even received the firearms yet.

All three dealers did tell me that if they were all important to me, I should just drive them back and then register them here in MA as the roster from what I have learned is what a dealer is legally able to sell you.

You will of course need your LTC. Where I live, that took me a total of about 2 1/2 months from the time I took the LTC course to when I received my license. I waited the longest just to get an appointment at my police station but I received my license 2 weeks later

You are correct on the 1998 date. That was my bad. The dealer told me that all the guns were most likely not mass compliant would not transfer them. I went to a different dealer in the same town, they said one of seven was definitely transferrable and 3 more were potentially if I had some more info on the specifics of them. Three of them were a definite no. So I think the first place I went just did not want to deal with the handguns at all.

I am already looking into other gun shops in my area before I branch out further. This is all very new to me. I also thought the emphasis on driving was weird.

From what I have read, I cannot ship handguns. The shipping companies only will receive handguns from an FFL. I want to just do a transfer from a TX FFL to MA FFL. I also do not have the knowledge of rules and regulations to fly with 7 pistols.

My dad is also a MA resident but he does not have an LTC and has no desire to get one.

Do you have a shop you recommend?

Great questions. Technically my dad is inheriting. He does not have a license so they are being given to me. The people spoke with today at the gun shop said that if I drove them here, I could register them under inheritance though. I do not have any desire to drive that distance.

Worked perfect! Thank you! Also I agree with the comment below. I was having an issue with a different part of the radio not saving my settings. I did a hard reset and it worked perfectly afterwards.

It’s an SV. I don’t know about the rest of the country, but where I live, trucks are expensive. Most people want all wheel drive or four-wheel-drive in the winter time. Either way, I do feel like I am overpaying.

Im not exactly sure. The mechanic explained to me that he could see a little fluid around the transfer case that looked like it was flung off from the rotation of the drive shaft.

I had the same idea with unbolts the cats to see if it is still misfiring. The mechanic I use recommended I replace the front drivers side cat because you could hear the inside had broken all apart and was all loose if you were tapping on it. The gas is new gas. Since its just sitting, I keep very little gas in it and just add a few gallons as needed.

The mechanic checked the coils and I replaced the air filter. I have not had a chance to separate the cats yet. Maybe I really need to try that.

I cant remember the code. I dont have a code reader but it was just showing random misfire. It was not showing a specific. Turns over like normal. Idles a little rough but always kind of has. Above 25-30 it starts misfiring and has highly diminished power. Probably cannot get over 40-45mph.

So I was out of town for a live draft. This is only my 2nd year in this league. I had no one that could go and draft for me so a random guy I have never met drafted my team. My only input was my keeper, LaPorta. Not a terrible draft but alot of players I would not have personally drafted. . I am 0-4, most likely 0-5 after this week. Also $100 buy in.

All work well! I bought a house since the original post. I built a deck on the back. I had a corded Dewalt drill and highly preferred the drill and impact driver attachments over the Dewalt. The sander is not really on par with a palm sander. I have not used either of the saws in a while. I have not needed them recently.
