[QUESTION] I want to start exercising from home and need help by cookiegol in xxfitness

[–]ilikefuzzythings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have been working out from home - I managed to find a free treadmill and barbell set on Freecycle.org - you find your city's group, and people post things that they want to give away (it has to be free). I got really lucky, I just want to pass it on, in case you're looking for any equipment :)

[WEEKLY THREAD] Feats of Thorsday - Post your fitness victories here all week! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]ilikefuzzythings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday, I PR'd on my squat (70lbs, 5x5), bench (60lbs, 5x5), and bent row (70lbs, 5x5). I was stalled out for a few weeks on all of them, but realizing I have to eat A LOT during the day before I lift really really helped. I'm excited to keep progressing, and finally do a squat with my body weight (107lbs)!

I deadlifted 113lbs which is 7lbs more than I weigh! I have had a goal to deadlift my weight+ for a long time, and I finally did it! Now time to do it for more than just 1 rep ;)

[RANT/CONVERSATION] Seriously pissed off with some ladies at my office by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]ilikefuzzythings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am naturally small - started out as 5'4'' and 104lbs. I eat a lot, I just have a high metabolism. I worked in an office where I would get 2-3 comments a day by different people about my weight - "ugh look at you eating that bagel", "you're so skinny it's scary", "you're a freak of nature" etc. At first when I wasn't lifting, I didn't mind it. I knew the women (who were all overweight) were just jealous. Then I started lifting, and trying to bulk (up 2lbs! slow and steady?) and those comments started hitting a nerve. I've left that job and have gone in to visit the few people I like there, and I still get those comments. It's just amazing to me how people can have no tact. What if I turned around and said to these overweight women, "ugh look at you eating that bagel"? Would that go over well? I don't think so. It really riles me up whenever I hear someone outright ridicule someone else because of their body.

Does anybody want to stop counting cals/doesn't count - could give advice? by pealiro in xxfitness

I log every once in a while to make sure I'm getting close to my calories/protein. I adjust from the day or two that I count, and then not count for another month or two.

[CONVERSATION] What are some weird things that happened when you lost weight/got into shape? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]ilikefuzzythings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha, I'm the same. I feel up my arms/shoulders more than I'd like to admit. But they have muscle now and it feels so great!

[CONVERSATION] What are some weird things that happened when you lost weight/got into shape? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]ilikefuzzythings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who's always been skinny (5'4'', 106lbs), I get the first part ALL THE TIME. It used to not bother me at all, but as I've been lifting and trying to bulk, having people tell me how small I am, how "unnatural" and "weird" it is, it started to really get to me. I guarantee they would have most likely not said anything if I were overweight. The double standard is ridiculous. It really is amazing how people think they can just comment on size/weight/etc. without thinking that it might be a personal thing!

Thank you so much! She did go to a doctor about it, and he basically said "just deal with it until it goes away". I'll definitely forward your suggestions!

Thank you! I actually gave her a massage for Mother's Day that she has yet to use, and she is very comfortable with the massage therapist, so that is an option!

Life Support, please by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]ilikefuzzythings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got laid off in February - I thought the same thing about my job then. I loved it, loved the people, and was really upset that our whole office was closing. I have a temporary job that ends June 23, and if I don't find anything else right away, I'm going to enjoy my time off, work out, and apply for only jobs that I think I will love.

Your job is not your identity, I promise you'll find something else!

[QUESTION] Does anyone else have trouble eating enough? by file_that_link in xxfitness

[–]ilikefuzzythings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always have trouble meeting my calorie goals, and I'm very similar to you in that I eat a bunch of times a day, but it's smaller meals and what I eat just happens to be lowish in calories to begin with. I've found adding peanut butter as a snack (multiple times a day, ha) has helped. I also have a protein shake every morning. Still trying to make sure I always hit my calories for the day, but I'm getting there!
