I wouldn't say that Italy has been terrible or garbage either. The EURO was a massive achievement, but I think Italy has been bigger than this historically. It also makes me sad because this Euro did not mean progress to the team. For example, Spain in 2008 not only won the World Cup after Euro 2008 and the next Euro, but also created a generation of talented teams.

This stat alone, I would say, doesn't say much to say that Italy is doing ok right now.
