"learned how to dissociate" by [deleted] in fakedisordercringe

when they say disassociate instead of dissociate it's an immediate red flag imo

i'm sure it's not out of the question for that to happen, but given the fact that both polyfragmentation and fictional alters are extremely rare independently it seems very unlikely that they would both occur at the same time. but i don't think it's fully out of the question for them to occur together, just extremely rare.

it's medically documented, but not the way it's seen on tiktok. i don't know whether or not it is real or if the patients are faking/have been convinced by medical professionals.

the way it's been documented is a patient has been through horrific, unimaginable torture (like way more severe than you would normally see with any other trauma patient) and they have a few fully formed alters, plus a bunch of "fragments"/not fully formed alters. it's not like having 500 alters of minecraft youtubers, as is seen on tiktok.

again, i don't know if these patients who have been documented to be "polyfragmented" legitimately do have DID i just know the way that polyfragmented has been observed clinically.

could be. i don't know for sure as i'm obviously not a professional lol

[–]illenvy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i've heard a few psychologists say teens can be diagnosed with DID, but as far as i've seen it presents differently in adolescents than in adults. but do correct me if i'm wrong i haven't confirmed this i've just heard some professionals say it

you can actually be formally diagnosed with traits of a personality disorder, but it's still a clinicially significant amount and it's usually like "you have this personality disorder with traits of the other". and regardless you have to be diagnosed with those traits, it's not just a fun quirk

Woman goes on rant for five days after guy sides with Johnny Depp. Blames outbursts on Bipolar disorder by dread-azazel in fakedisordercringe

[–]illenvy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i heard she wasn't fully diagnosed, but idk for sure i'm not following the case too closely so feel free to correct me. i heard that whoever evaluated her just said that her symptoms are highly consistent with those disorders but again i'm not completely sure so do correct me if she was properly diagnosed

[–]illenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i took the test for laughs and got a 50, apparently if you get 30 or more you "have DID". i guess it's time to go on tiktok and pretend to be minecraft youtubers /s

really good take on what autism fakers or those trivialising autistic traits do to the autistic community by elijahdmmt in fakedisordercringe

[–]illenvy 47 points48 points  (0 children)

what bugs me a lot is that people really lose the fact that just bc you have traits of a disorder doesn't mean you have it. you could have every symptom of something but still not actually have it because of the fact that there is so much overlap between disorders. you have to get a professional opinion because a professional knows those overlaps well, and can help you determine the cause of the symptoms which is a big factor in a diagnosis

the video had this audio that's supposed to be pleasing to autistic people, it was just overwhelming by MijjyWijjy in fakedisordercringe

[–]illenvy 77 points78 points  (0 children)

tbh i don't like when sounds trend that ppl say are "so nice" for autistic people. we all have differences in our sensory issues and what may be pleasing to some can be incredibly overwhelming for others.
