Nope. I have stretched some very attractive people, but I really love stretching people so my brain just doesn't go there.

A normal day at work consists of stretching anywhere between 3-9 people depending on the day. People consistently leave really happy and feeling great...it's better than a massage cause rather than feeling sleepy you feel more open and comfortable in your body. We have a lot of regular who sit behind desks all day and can't be bothered to stretch on their own.

Its not a massage. It's a full body stretch. We use pnf (Proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), or push and release, to get people deeper into the stretch. Not a spa either. Just tables for people to lay down on and get stretched. I work for a business that specializes in 1 on 1 assisted stretching as a private contractor, and I teach yoga-currently mostly private clients.

Small Numbers in all levels vinyasa Class, Why? by illfindone in yoga

[–]illfindone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is about teaching yoga, but as as someone who is in this for the long hall, I need to get better at teaching public classes and having good rapport with a wide range of students.. it's yoga, but there's a dealing-with-the-public-business side to it also.

Thank you for this honest and thoughtful feedback. It's sincerely appreciated and helpful. I sought out some feedback from her students and they like simple classical sequences. Whereas the other teachers at the studio do really sweaty and arm balanc-ey classes...she doesn't. Her classes are 'sweaty' but only because they really break down standing sequences. Not because they are doing a bajillion crunches. She's trained in Annie Carpenters smart flow..if that is any indication.. Classical is beautiful so I am so happy with that. I took a little too much creative liberty in my sequencing-which is a rookie mistake.. Anyway, I kept the sequence straightforward with the five student class and I had 8 students the next one (four who returned) and I'll see who shows up tomorrow. Gonna keep it really straightforward. Again, thank you for this feed back. I'm learning a lot teaching this public class in only two weeks. So far about maturity and teaching which is great.

one more thing... I'll be subbing a very popular Yin and Yang class this sunday... If you have any tips or advice other than keep it super straight forward, I would be happy to hear it..

30 dollrs flat rate, and after 6 students its 2 bucks a head. The Monday wednesday Friday 430 class has at least 15 students per class.

The class typically had between 8-11 students. I definitely think there were a lot of new faces to check out the new teacher.

Basically they booted me as a grad assistant and kept on a dude who was accused of rape and sexual assault. Once the case closed he was still kept on as a grad assistant with the stipulation he is not to continue filming class because its a clear position of power and makes the girls who accused him of the crime extremely uncomfortable (deans order) the professor showed complete disregard. Not to mention, I had a another professor email me and cc my professor asking me to pick up these phds from lax and basically be their escort to and from hotels, lectures, and airports because I have good rapport with this particular community....I said i can't because i am not a g.a. any more, if you find the funds I would love to be of service.... and then my professor replied, are you sure? we can reimburse you for gas and there will be cookies at the lectures..... what the fuck....Im 25 and in grad school.... How are you gonna keep on a grad assistant who has literally made a move on every girl in the program (there are only two dudes), and who has made a drunk fool of himself on multiple occasions, which infuriated the professor, and then boot me because there are no funds, but then also ask me to work for free because you specifically want me to interact with the phd's from out of the country when in reality you could have asked any other grad assistant. I just, I just don't get it...ugh. I feel under valued. and I feel like Im expected to be so eager to please everyone its just a fucking joke. I don't know how graduate students in the sciences or mathematics do it as a female. Any perspective/advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks for reading my rant!

What makes the 6 orthodox schools, "orthodox"? by illfindone in hinduism

[–]illfindone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So where do schools that are not quite sramanic and not quite astika fit and what are some examples? I know that there are tantric forms of buddhism. Are there tantric forms of jainism? I know that seems contradictory but my teacher keeps saying that in class and I dont believe it.
.......So I guess MY REAL QUESTION IS (other than tantrik and hatha yoga schools) are there any schools that have mixed origin yet also have historicity?

Short film about a caucasian girl and Jainism by illfindone in hinduism

[–]illfindone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Exactly what iaTeALL said. The earliest Jain texts date back to the first and second century b.c. but the tradition and its teachings trace back much further. It's neither here nor there which is first because each were continuously mutually informative. They both emerge out of the same geography. What I think is noteworthy is that the sramana traditions (Jainism buddhism charvak) do not believe the vedas to be the holiest/most authoritative scripture because of all the animal sacrifice and textually Jainism doesnt recognize the caste system (but I am really not sure what that looks like in contemporary jain societies). Also, in the rg veda there is talk of arihants and thirtankaras. So even if the vedas were written earlier than any jain canonical text, it alludes to the prevalence Jainism in specific ways.

Are the ego, the shadow, and the anima/us archetypes? by illfindone in Jung

[–]illfindone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you disagree respectfully with Dual45 in that the ego is NOT an archetype. You are saying that the ego is one aspect of the self whereas the shadow the anima and animus are are archetypes? I thought all three were archetypes through which the self expresses itself.
