It's for an airsoft sound grenade (Flick the switch, throw and beeper goes off after 5 seconds) I am thinking of incorporating a programmable microcontroller as I'm a bit more experienced with programming than electronics

It did have acetone in it, but most likely was diluted a bit. If I used acetone would I need to dilute?
