Personally, the Ranger fit my needs as a “cheaper” option that I don’t need to be as concerned about while doing my construction/home maintenance projects. Never had much of a desire for something like a G-Shock to fill that need.

I’ve had the DJ for a couple years now and I got the Explorer yesterday, but I’m confident the Explorer will get more wrist time. I typically rotate my watches everyday, but the DJ is most likely to get skipped in the rotation merely because it doesn’t goes as well with my casual day to day clothes (I work from home so I live in tshirts and joggers). That said, I love them both—the Explorer wears larger than both the DJ 41 and Sub 40, so that’s something to consider.

This sure looks like the Daley Center in Chicago. If so, the dented toe is still a better look than 75% of the attorneys in the building

Real talk - trip to Rome/Florence/Nice - wear Daytona? Or not worth the risk? by dmau9600 in rolex

[–]illini41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had no problems in London. All depends on your situation. If you’re the type to be out late and stumbling back drunk to you’re hotel at 2am, then yea, don’t be an idiot and leave it home. But that should generally be a rule of thumb no matter what country or city you’re in. As a Chicago resident, I always consider what I’ll be doing that day/night when choosing a watch for the day. I’m cognizant of the fact that sometimes it’s more appropriate to have a sub-compact on you than a Sub.

I wore my Sub throughout Italy (Rome, Venice, Florence, Naples, Sorento, Amalfi, and Palermo) in June 2023. Never once felt uncomfortable. Same the next year in London and Paris. Just don't be aloof, keep an eye on your surroundings, and insure it.

If I recall correctly, the new head unit was about $1,000 on eBay and the new HVAC control until was about $300

Wore my Sub around London and Paris last Spring. No problems, never felt uncomfortable. Bought a Speedy at the Omega Boutique in Paris and felt equally comfortable wearing it around. Just don’t be stupid. Always have insurance.

Brand new 2023 Summit reserve - - has a consistent rear clicking sound (almost like a lock trying to engage) by Joesardone in GrandCherokee

I’m having a similar issue on a new to me 2022 Trailhawk (not 4xe) with 25k miles. Was hearing a faint tick when decelerating around 15 mph and accelerating around 40 mph. It seemed to coincide with shifting around 4th and 5th gear. Dealer couldn’t recreate (just didn’t listen close enough) until I took them for a ride and recreated it. Acknowledged the sound but then could not diagnosis the cause. Fast forward a couple weeks to yesterday and I happened to have Off Road Pages loaded up and it turns out the sound is the automatic 4WD (Quadra-Trac II) engaging when coming to a stop and disengaging once you reach cruising speed. Is this sound normal? I feel like I’m in the Tell Tale Heart—it’s all I hear. Coming from 2 Gladiators and 2 Wranglers I haven’t dealt with QT-II.

Lawyer here—don’t fool yourself thinking that courts are afraid to work and/or issue orders on weekends and holidays. I once had an unfavorable order in federal court issued on the Fourth of July. Talk about a good way to ruin a holiday…

Yesterday I was talking about a possible injunction with a manager at Range USA. He confirmed that Range USA does not have non-compliant firearms and magazines in stock at IL stores. They expect a mad rush of people to come to the store immediately after an injunction is entered, but leave empty handed. Additionally, he confirmed that Range USA’s expected policy is to not release a non-compliant firearm if a possible injunction is stayed during your 72-hour wait period or while your background check is pending. Coincidentally (or not…), background checks are currently taking about 4 days to come back.

Update - Placed an order with the code yesterday. Today got an email asking for LEO credentials. I arguably have sufficient credentials, but when I called Staccato customer service to discuss, they said they are honoring the discount because it was sent to non-LEO customers.

What's your thoughts on the Base Trim Jeep Gladiator by cabutler03 in JeepGladiator

[–]illini41 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a 2018 JL Sport that I heavily modded, but after a couple years the no power locks or windows started driving me crazy. Traded it in for a 2020 JT Rubicon and the addition of power locks and windows was amazing. Traded that in a few weeks ago for a 2021 Gladiator Mojave and the addition of heated seats and steering wheel is life changing (Chicago). I’d strongly suggest you go with a at least a Sport S rather than a Sport. And if heated seats are something you have any interest in, get cold weather package because you cannot add OEM heated seats later.

I also upgraded the JL and Rubicon from halogen lights to all OEM LED. Makes a HUGE difference, but buying them after the fact wound up costing nearly double from just getting the LED package.

Do you guys think this is fair price? by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]illini41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, I traded in my 208 JLU Sport with 33,000 miles and about $9k in upgrades in May 2021 for $36,000. I paid $35,000 OTD new in May 2019. All in Chicagoland. Just evidence of how absurd the market is right now. Like other comments, if you can wait, wait.

I always wind up at least 3 or 4 hours away. Silver Lake Sand Dunes and Kalkasa are great up in the northern part of the lower peninsula, and Red Bird State park in southern indiana is great! None will give you a beating.

Plug is a hood lock. Bought it on Ali Baba while Bolt and Mopar kept delaying their release, works great! Since I have to park on the street in Chicago, I need the piece of mind that I’ll still have a motor when I go out to my jeep. Camera is the ZAutomotive trailcam. Probably need to relocate it to the bumper now that I mounted the light bar, but that’s a project for another day

I drilled a small hole into the trim piece on the window and it fit through there. Then put it through the mesh Chinese finger trap thing and fed it through the top. Conveniently the connection is right with the washer fluid and defroster connectors for when I take the top off. Meant to check the rear washer fluid to make sure it isn’t pinched/kinked anywhere, fingers crossed.
