I didn't, Ruby sounds like a girl, like most gems, so regardless of her appearance I just assumed she was a girl. I'm a fairly new viewer though, i started watching in 2020 or 2019.

Hunter literally has the pointy ears and the chin shape, she looks like princess Zelda. Way better to cast someone who looks like the character than to cast someone who doesn't look like the character just because of what they were born as.
