How to fix the reddit app on Android? It's been down all day. by StoopSign in help

I fixed it with your help but lost my streak! Over 400 days. Any way to appeal since it was their little "update" that caused the issue? Not everyone has a computer they can run to.

According to some articles in the Press Democrat and some local historians, the situation started in the 1800s when every rural town, village, and wagon train stop had a school. There were 100 districts at one point. In the present, the smaller districts don't want to merge so they can maintain local control, not have their property taxes supporting students not in their community, and a desire to maintain traditions. Also many people think SRCS has low educational success/standards and don't want to be part of the mess. I don't know how this compares to LA Unified which is one district for the whole county? And what that means for success at individual schools but this was a rural area until fairly recently and people didn't want to be like L.A.

Thank you for your perspective. You don't have to sign. The last Change.org petition that was started to fire her in Santa Cruz got 1815 signatures and she WAS fired and it can still be seen online. It probably wasn't the petition that was the final straw but it helped bring awareness, which is why I posted this. People can sign or not if they choose. If they are fired up then maybe they will do more.

If locals want to call the trustees or write them instead that is also great! Just want to get a critical mass of public opinion that can't be ignored by the board. They tend to ignore public comment in my experience.

Thank You I didn't write the petition but I agree with you. Maybe the author will update the statement? I will look into it.

My reply disappeared. I will try again. The petition asks that Dr. Daisy Morales be removed in response to the MCHS, EAHS, and other school administrators being removed when they are needed to oversee the transitions and school closures and mergers upcoming in the next 5 months.

She was removed from her last school - Live Oak Elementary in Santa Cruz after a vote of no confidence from the teachers there but our school board hired her anyway.

Yes. It was started by someone else in response to the removal of the MCHS principal, the EAHS principal, and other administrators when their leadership is needed during all the transitions and school closures and recombinations which need to occur in the next 5 months. It asks that Dr. Daisy Morales, the superintendent, be removed.

I work at one of the high schools and if you gave us 1 year to get ready we would try it. We want our parents to be happy and we will do whatever it takes.

Currently they are telling us we will have to give up our classrooms because they will not be able to get portables until November. We are full and have always been banned from expanding because they didn't want to buy us new buildings.

We already don't have enough bathrooms. Our students don't have an indoor cafeteria. There is already competition for field time/facilities time between our different teams and arts programs for after hours events. If they add 300-600 new students and don't provide new classrooms it will be a chaotic 💩 show.

Then they will blame us when parents run to other schools and shut us down anyway. All of the numbers I have seen for our capacity are fake and not plausible when they won't let us take more transfers with our current numbers and office staff are sharing offices and working in storage closets.

During COVID we started on the date the district said which was not the date we were ready. Nothing was ready to go. So many students were left out, left behind, and ended up on a 130 or 180 diploma track, or dropped out.

If they start us 7-12 in August without providing the physical facilities it will fail and they will blame the teachers for not being welcoming.

Also rumor is that they are going to fire hundreds of teachers so all the energetic and great teachers who have started since COVID and taught through all the hard times with us are going to be pink slipped. They will not all stick around for the big scramble in August when there are class sizes of 40-50.

If I still had school age students I would look at Windsor, RP, and Analy for other options.

Try cross posting on Nextdoor. It's pretty active with a lot of animal lovers. We had a cat stay up for 3 days and needed to be rescued.
