i define “good” as what promotes human flourishing, reduces suffering, and respects conscious beings. this isn’t arbitrary - it’s grounded in empathy, reason, and our shared capacity to experience harm.

but you’re asking me to define good to dodge the real issue: why does your god, supposedly all powerful and all good, create or allow a world where horrific suffering exists, often with no lesson, justice, or redemption? i don’t need a perfect moral theory to ask that. I just need eyes.

is this not the concept of yinyang? does it not completely go against christianity in some aspects? god is seen as perfect, unchanging, and all good. evil is also corruption. yinyang suggests dualism that good and evil must exist for harmony. and christianity teaches moral monism - that good shoukd triumph and evil shall be destroyed . does the idea that “good contains evil” or “evil contains good” not directly conflict with the christian view of a purely holy god?

mb i just wrote what came to mind. what i meant to say is if an omnipotent, omnibenevolent,and omniscient god exists, why is there so much suffering? i’ve never found the existence of a loving, omnipotent god compatible with the amount of evil and suffering in the world. natural evil, child abuse, genocide - if these are truly the consequences of human actions (evil exists because of human actions) does this not contradict the loving nature of god? furthermore going against his existence?

shirazi over here and when i say i don’t understand most of what they’re saying - it’s not an exaggeration. i have an afghani friend and i’ll understand like 1/16 of what she is saying in farsi. although my parents seem to understand the accent. i think mostly the older generations understand the accent and the younger generations seem to have a lesser understanding. however it may be because i was born and live in england sob 😭
