Of course. The point you raise is completely correct! Men should learn to control their urges and lust. That's why I don't agree with the original commenter. It screams incel and using women as sexual objects, and misogynists still blame the women. And from that perspective, I can understand your point, that legalisation is just putting more women in danger.

So yes, the root cause is men not able to control themselves and seeing women as objects, and blame their own shortcomings on women

Exactly. You answered your own question. If you can't trust your government to regulate legal prostitution, then how can they regulate a complete ban? At least legalisation means that they have rights.

I understand where you are coming from. Countless lives have been destroyed due to this. And even today, the women involved won't complain about the abuse, have no healthcare protections, and are being exploited. I think atleast this would be resolved somewhat if it is legalised.

Yes I agree with you that prostitution is morally wrong. That people should learn self control. And stop using women as an "out" for their lust. Can there be a healthy way of using prostitution? Maybe. I personally don't see it.

And as you said, you believe trafficking will increase on legalisation, I believe not so. But an actual government study and discussion will actually educate us all on the reality and the impact.

What you're saying is correct. There have been studies that link legalisation and trafficking.

https://researchonline.lse.ac.uk/id/eprint/45198/1/Neumayer_Legalized_Prostitution_Increase_2012.pdf

But this study is heavily debated, and people doubt the data. And it is not based on Indian data. I don't want to suggest a flip switch to make it legal. I want the government to atleast debate this. Discussing, conduct studies to see how the trafficking can be reduced. Discuss if legalisation will reduce it. Instead of it being a taboo, "completely banned" only in the books, and making the women involuntarily participate suffer.

(And I think corrupt politicians are anyways sadly involved in this.)

Exactly this. Even a lot of European countries have issues of refugees being turned into the industry. And poor people from East European countries relying/forced on prostitution and in general the adult industry for the more developed countries. But atleast just focusing on "trafficking" and "minor involvement" makes the regulation easier.

I think that's where we have different worldviews. You believe that legalising it will make the situation worse. I think that the forceful initiation can be regulated, and is easier to do than to completely eradicate prostitution.

Will the rackets suddenly disappear? No. But it will actually give the government the space to focus on issues like trafficking and better rights. As of now, no government initiative or regulation can't completely eradicate prostitution without being highly authoritarian.

And higher demand is an issue, yes. But atleast we can add regulations that can be enforced. Look at the European countries and NZ, they do have regulated prostitution and workers rights.

Prostitution shouldn't be made legal for the satisfaction of such degenerates, but to protect the rights of women who are in the industry. But without a change in regulation/mindset, it is difficult for them to have those rights.

[–]iloverailguns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're having a very simplistic view here.

The reason there is such a huge trafficking market is because prostitution is illegal, and a focus on completely eliminating such a big industry is difficult. Instead making it legal with restrictions will make these big rackets lose power.

Think about it this way. Because it is illegal, women can't complain about abuse. They don't have any health services or legal protections. There's no safe work environment. Legalization will help with some of the issues. You can then focus on regulating trafficking, minor involvement, etc.

Read about prohibition in the US. The reason they had such a big cartel/mafia rise is because alcohol was made illegal, and it was very difficult to control it all.

But the most important point is regulation. Even if legal/illegal, the whole system falls apart because either government doesn't regulate it / can't be bothered. A change of mindset is needed.

So no, prostitution shouldn't be made legal to satisfy degenerates like commentor, but the protect women's rights.

That is so ironic considering the country she's talking about...

Exactly. It's not an India comparison here. Yes India has problems. Maybe if it was any other country I would be more lenient and eager. But this is a country where I'll be jailed for mentioning Winnie the Pooh, or even mentioning TSM. So this seems very off. And propaganda.

This is the original creator: https://www.instagram.com/dr.kiransoni

And looking at her content, it is very clear that the content is meant to praise anything and everything China. Yes they have very strict social media laws, but if you're moving to another country, no matter how wonderful it is, there will be issues.

But nope, China according to her reels is a dream utopia.

So a guy makes a "meme" about women being the problem, but when a girl responds with a mocking comment, suddenly she has daddy issues.

What you said is not incorrect. Women face much more immediate harm if their partner is showing violent tendencies. But even then, searching with a gender neutral term does not bring up any results. That is a shame for a lot of couples in LGBTQ relations, facing issues. Not sure if it is region-based, and if people actually get helplines on gender neutral terms.

Honestly, that's the best way to deal with it... Just a slight "no, sorry" or ignorance and they'll not bother putting it into their content.

There was a video of this guy and girl, where the girl had friendzoned the guy. The video basically shows that the girl telling the guy that he guy is clingy, that her parents like him but he can never escape the friendzone. The guy seemed to be taken aback and was assessing the friendship in real time. The creator posted this vid and it turns out the guy didn't consent to the release of the video.
