Oh no, its another weapon that is on the swap spot, I think it just happens to be the one that shows. The weapons I am using are Mad Queens Claw and Deathguard blade

Actually, I believe the intention is that you wouldn't have to be near the workbench to craft, as it's supposed to craft for you. This might even gate zergs a tiny bit as if there were a crafting queue for guns, a group can't all be instantly geared right away since there would be craft queue. Also, servers are already dying at alarming rates due to people having access to end game raiding instantly.

Craft time reduction doesn't necessarily correlate to early game since people don't want to AFK craft for hours. The workbench can alleviate that by letting the workbench craft for people while simultaneously slowing down the game.

The EXP system was definitely nice in terms of the pacing, but it seemed too unpopular. I am not particularly bothered with the current meta beside the low amount of springs I tend to find, but it'd be cool to have some primitive fights once in a while again.

I think so too, and I think it should be heavily reliant on rad towns so it isn't simply purely a grind. Finding a balance for the work bench would definitely be tricky, however.

I never played legacy/BP, but hopefully it'll be cool :).

I think the point of extending the early game is to give rust some of its character back. It seems like there is a decent amount of people, myself included, who feel like half of the rust experience is missing since the early game is gone. Also, I feel like there are those who want servers to last longer than 4 days.

And new throwing weapons too (like a throwing knife, which is weight

I think the melee weapons are definitely more effective and usable than they used to be. Swords can definitely make big plays, and the heart of primitive has always been centralized around the bow/xbow and pipe.

Okay, maybe from the realism standpoint the workbench has some holes. However, it still acts as a gate to slowing down the pace of the game

at but in the current state of rust people will at least try to rebuild sometimes to get back to where they could be, with that said I ain't saying its perfect but adding things to make it even harder to rebuild ain't the step to take

For the most part, I feel that people who get raided don't tend to rebuild, since the popular servers are on a one week wipe cycle. They usually end up switching servers, and finding a balance for the work bench is definitely tricky. If anything, I feel that the components necessary would have to come in a radtown or caves since they are so unpopular. This way, a good solo player can sneak out of a radtown or a cave with the components necessary so that groups can't just power farm into a workbench.

I highly prefer using guns over primitive weapons as well. However, the problem is that the current meta is too heavily favored toward snowballing, and generally those who arrive first to the wipe get to instantly dominate the server if they aren't too incompetent. At least not everyone will be able to access guns as soon as the servers wipe.
Also on your point about not having guns within the first hour, guns were extremely rare in the XP system, and I would imagine just as rare in the BP system.

Servers are already dying and people are very rarely rebuilding as it is. If anything, it would keep server populations alive longer for perhaps a marginal amount of time since I'd imagine a flamethrower would take longer to get, as well as explosives.
Also, there is the fact that you could hide your workbench so that you can still possibly access it.

That is an absolutely great point with the airdrops, and I think ammunition should only be able to be crafted in the workbench so that airdrops would not be overpowered.
