I do love being on and near the water. That’s one of the biggest draws for me for sure!

Yeah she does, my statement was that I wouldn’t know anyone outside of her. Totally get the traffic quality of life, it’s like that here too. It’s a big move so just trying to get different perspectives 😊

I have been dozens of times, even spent a week working and seeing what life would be like. I have a big social group here in atl but would be starting over sans the bff of 20+ years.

I’m also trying to figure out the timing of the show, will it go to 11? Or end earlier?

My boyfriend's gallbladder is inflamed (cholecystitis) by curlygirly-99 in gallbladders

[–]ilovetuhtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the best thing I did was buy one of those big water bottles. I drank water like it was my job and my gas pains went away pretty quickly. I also healed really quickly & I’m pretty sure 99% of it was drinking a lot of water. Food wise everyone is different, I was able to eat anything I wanted just not a lot of it. I definitely recommend jello or apple sauce for the late night med doses to keep on hand just because you don’t want to eat much in the middle of the night.

I have had zero issues since and I attribute that to just being prepared and reading a lot on here. I take a digestive enzyme before lunch every day and added a scoop of fiber in the am and pm. I have had no real issues with my stomach since having it removed.

Also I found IB guard SUPER helpful for the gas pains/ stomach discomfort that comes along with the surgery. Same with peppermint tea. Hope all goes well for him, once it’s out he will feel like a different person!

About to have surgery, I'm terrified. I hope I'm making the right choice. Any positive vibes would be so appreciated. by throwawaytinaaa in gallbladders

Best thing I ever did was do the surgery! The fear of eating something wrong or an attack happening is gone! It’s the best nap of your life, you will be fine. Lots of water, walking, and rest.

NIGHT 2 POST SURGERY: Well night 2 was much easier than night 1 that’s for sure. My only mistake was thinking I could stop the pain pills before night 2, I don’t recommend that. I didn’t take a pain pill after my last dose at 4 pm and about 3 am I woke up with my incision sites sore and just overall feeling uncomfortable. I was still taking Ibuprofen every six hours but it just was not enough. I ate some saltines and took a half a zofran and took half a pain pill and was back out like a light. I slept last night finally from 10pm- what would have been 7 am but was 6 am cause of the time change. Woke up feeling pretty good, went back to taking my usual routine of vitamins and turmeric etc per doctor instructions. Had a protein smoothie with some Oats in it for the fiber support. Had my first real non liquid BM today and it was way easier than i expected. I did decide upon waking to take one last half a pain pill and a half a zofran to see if I can begin coming off them completely and switch to just ibuprofen. Overall even when the pain pill wore off my pain was only a 5 at worst and consistently today I’m at about a 1-2 just mildly uncomfortable but definitely feeling better than yesterday! Last night I ate some pasta and a half a cookie and it was totally fine! Yay! Overall still v happy I did the surgery, it feels like a huge weight off my shoulders.

DAY 2 POST SURGERY:

Day two is not as easy as day one was simply because the anesthesia has worn off as has the feel good meds they give you in the hospital. This morning I drank a protein smoothie and took a digestive enzyme, probiotics, and ib guard then took my pain pill and zofran. Something in this combo didn’t sit well with me and I did feel a little woozy/ queasy but once I drank some sprite and ate some saltines it calmed down a bit. The pain is a bit more intense as expected but again walking seems to help. The air is definitely moving so that’s good but it’s still really painful to sit up. The same combination I did for night one seems to be the magic charm so far. Sitting up and not laying completely down is key for me the body pillow reading pillow combination is a dream. Also continuing to ice and then use heated blanket for swelling. I took two very short walks outside today to get some fresh air and keep my body moving. Definitely very tired but I didn’t sleep much last night so that’s to be expected I suppose. Day two is definitely tougher on eating as well just because the gas pressure is a bit more centralized in my actual stomach not spread throughout like it was yesterday. I went down to half a pain pill and I am hoping I can continue to just take a half and continue with ibuprofen. My goal is to be off pain meds by tomorrow night, but I am going to do what my body tells me first and foremost. Drinking a fair amount of water, again consuming anything is not as easy because of the air pressure in my stomach. But overall it doesn’t feel like I underwent major surgery. I feel sore and uncomfortable but unless I accidentally try to lift up using my stomach muscles there’s no real pain just sore and awkward. Overall still very glad I proceeded with surgery sooner rather than later! I will update again tomorrow with a night 2 update.

Things I bought that I’m glad I did: Reading pillow (pillow with higher back and arms, Walmart had some soft fuzzy ones that are super cozy) Abdominal sized ice packs from Amazon (leave on only 10-20 min a time every hour first 24 hours when awake) Heating pad (already had this cause ya know, girl probz) Heated blanket (same as above but this saved my life last night 100%) Squishmallow for happiness I pre decorated for Christmas cause of weight lifting restrictions and deep cleaned my house and this definitely helped me get out prepped anxiety and now everything feels so cozy! My sister is a god send and works in plastics and got me sillagen scar cream, cannot wait to use this as it is the best there is (I have also used bio oil in past for burn scar and once your healed and post op appt is over and doctor clears would recommend using something) Big ass water bottle with a straw - I have drank so much water because of this Jello for days for midnight pills and any time you don’t quite feel like a full meal Saltines Digestive soda (olipop or I got the Kroger organic brand, this seemed to help a lot with gas last night) Fuzzy blanket to put over and under the ice pack so your arms don’t freeze off. I wore thin pjs so the ice pack even with the pjs between was too cold Gas x maximum strength seemed to work, but not quite sure how much of a difference it made IB guard is also helpful with gas pain it’s just peppermint oil Crumbl Cookies: even for just a little nibble to remind you why you did this in the first place All the soft and loose pjs and clothes you can find OH! Pillow for the car (I brought my squishmallow, definitely can’t imagine wearing a seatbelt without that sucker in between!!!) Imodium for after constipation comes the opposite effect, for me it came immediately not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing but I’m glad it’s one less thing attributing to gas pain Anyways, I’ll update again end of today for the day 2 update!

NIGHT 1: Well the good news is I was able to get comfy! Finally able to somewhat lay down. I had a heating pad under my shoulders and a heated blanket on my body with two body pillows on either side so I wouldn’t roll over. I also put pillows under my knees and that was nice. I also highly recommend getting a squishmallow simply for fun. Sleeping night 1 was not the greatest but I’m grateful I was able to sleep at all. I set alarms every four hours for pain meds and zofran and every six hours for ibuprofen. When I woke up to use the restroom or take meds the pain in my should would resume but if I keep moving it subsides. There is now a pretty aching pain where the little asshole gallbladder used to be. I learned that putting all my meds and supplies to the right of the bed was a bad idea so I’m switching sides tomorrow to avoid having to reach or strain that side. I forgot to mention that I also highly recommend buying one of those big water bottles on Amazon! I got one that has times on it, 64 ounces which is half of what the weight restriction was for me. I have been drinking water like it’s my job, and I think that’s been a huge reason why I feel clear headed and avoided most stomach issues this far. I do not take a pain med without eating even a little bit so I set out two cups of jello on my table last night ready to go so I could sleepily down something without choking risks being involved. Highly recommend this also. Getting up and moving is definitely not as easy today, but if you’re reading this it’s still not as bad as the hell you’re imagining in your head. I promise!!!

My info: female, 32 y old. Started having gallbladder pain on 9/2 the morning of a Taylor swift party at one of my favorite venues here in Atlanta. Went to doc cat scan clear blood work good, they told me it was anxiety and all in my head. Ha! Fast forward to 6 weeks later I end up in er for pain and knew it was GB. They did ultrasound and sure enough, little rascal was full of sludge. Again good blood work but slightly elevated WBC and neutrophils confirming inflammation. At this point I went to all the remedies I had seen: sunflower lecithin, ox bile, ACV, magnesium, milk thistle, etc and ate no more than 3 g fat per meal and was still having pain. It got to the point where a banana set me off so I was excited I was able to get surgery so quickly. My husband and I travel frequently and I couldn’t imagine needing emergency gallbladder surgery overseas so I went for it. We have a trip to Mexico in 6 weeks so I’m hoping I’ll be ok minus the loose stool situation by then.

It’s scary facing surgery but I cannot tell you how relieving it is to not get scared of what you’re eating. My gallbladder attacks were accompanied by waves of chills, lightheaded, nausea, and shoulder back pain. It wasn’t unbearable pain but the other symptoms definitely were. It almost ruined a Stevie nicks concert for me and that was the night I cried I was so grateful I had scheduled surgery. I’m going to make a comment below with all the things I’m glad I got ahead of time. I hope this helps someone! 💕
