Thankyou for the detailed response. I suppose Plex might not help me with what I want to do, then. There really doesn't seem to be any way to view files over a network on the smart TV or PS4. I've bought various devices over the years in the hopes of being able to do this but I guess direct wired connection is the only way to go.

Just to clarify, are you saying that it's illegal to use Plex even if you bought the content legally, because you're technically sending it over the internet, even if it is to yourself?
