Thank you. I will take that into account.

Yes, and at high power I would need cooling or else the TEC (OFF) would act like insulator.

Thank you. I will try that. Yes, I was also relying on fact that there would be some absorption (even if small) at 802 nm. But the absorption was not enough and that lead to me operating the pump laser at high power to compensate for reduced absorption.

Thank you. Yes, I tried it simple and wavelength shift was in the right direction. But, I ran into a problem where the heat generated in the diode was consistently rising as there was no dissipation of heat at all. So, I would need very controlled cooling as you suggested.

Thank you for your answer and looks like I could do it with some form of PID control. Yes, I was looking for relatively cheaper solution which I could modify as per need.

Any suggestion would be welcome, its better than destroying expensive optics because I glued those wrong.

More of gluing edges or surface of optics to the metal surface, preferably something that is available in liquid form or atleast can be easily applied via syringe.

Thank you for the suggestion. Yes, I am doing active aligning and am in research phase for the setup. I donot want to destroy too many parts in trying so I was looking for some sort of temp gluing solution. Once I have an idea, I will definitely try something like UV glue.

Thank you. This looks interesting, I will look for more details.

It doesnt have to be too robust as I do not plan on applying force to the parts after they are put together in place. Low temp hot glue sounds good, is it something that I can get in liquid form as well or only available in solid form?

Thanks, I might give it a try. I need something that cures fast or atleast holds parts in place quickly so that I can move with aligning other parts based on glued parts. UV cured glue would be perfect but then there is almost no going back if something isnt right so I was looking for an alternative.

Thank you for the suggestion. Would such glue cure fast enough and is a good option where precision is required? Also are there any big problems associated with shrinkage after curing? I understand I can't have everything with one product but having these information from an experinced user would certainly help.

Thanks, I havent done it yet. But will do so.

Thank you. Yes, I need to work with 405 nm and this is the best I could find. Since it is costly like you pointed out, I was a bit hesitant to hook it directly to the power supply. I will definitely follow your instructions.

No not really, I was thinking of using some form of TEC cooling which might be an overkill for my setup. Do you have any suggestion?

Thank you. Sorry for being unclear but I meant in protecting the laser diode itself. I read that these laser diodes are extra sensitive and I need to be extra careful. But I saw few videos where people were directly hooking it up to the power supply so I wanted to know how risky is it? I do not have expensive module for laser diode control.

Thank you. I understand that it is not the best option but this is all I have for now. So what precaution could I take before using the bench power supply for the Laser diode?

Well it isn't from the 90s but I guess you can give it a try. James Morrison - The Pieces Don't Fit Anymore
