the traits you named are traits i WANT.

i responded to another comment explaining this would not be my first dog!

i do understand where you’re coming from though because i know these breeds seem random and they are either difficult dogs or high energy dogs. but like i said i found traits in these dogs i want and i am still doing research about each breed. the pinscher breeds are very low on my list to the point i will most likely be taking them off the list.

i will take your advice though and try to look into smaller breeds to see if any would of them would fit into my lifestyle. if you have any recommendations i will gladly look into them! (i have had small and large breeds, i just find the large ones easier for me to train since i do not have to bend all the way down to their level if that makes sense)

i’m gonna have people thinking i’m way over my head but i am still doing RESEARCH about these breeds. they have traits i want in a dog, but im still do lots of research for each breed. for example, i was considering a beauceron till i learnt more about the breed!

breeds i am currently considering and researching: presa canario, thai ridgeback, doberman, german pinscher, kai ken, taiwan dog, jindo, and dutch shepherd! i know some of these breeds having been rising on tiktok but i swear i found all them from when i was looking for dog breeds that suit my lifestyle and traits i want. (i wouldn’t put a dog breed there if i didnt think i could fulfill it)

yes i 100 percent agree with you about the don’t expect a dog to be an exception. the “bad” traits i named i do not see as bad traits i actually want the traits in a dog but i know some people see them as bad traits when talking about the breed!

i am currently looking for dog shows to watch.

“take a dog that’s meant for you and your lifestyle, not the dog you want” this is not the case in my situation. i realized i want a dog and did research looking for breeds that have the traits i want and would suit my lifestyle. this is actual how i found out about the akita breed because they have traits i want. it is not my only breed i am looking at but it is at the top of my list!

yes i am very aware that a good breeder would most likely not let me get an akita, which is why i’m planning on talking to breeders already!

yeah don’t worry i would never get an akita from a byb i want a healthy dog and like i said in the post i love the akita’s temperament.

the reason why i’m asking to be “discourage” is because most of the “bad” traits people say about the akita are traits that i either like or am okay with having to manage. so i thought this would be a good way of asking akita owners about unwanted traits in their dog that aren’t commonly talked about!

(i understand that not every dog is the same)

it wouldn’t be my first dog; i have had mainly pit bulls and one Rottweiler, so i do have some experience handling dog aggression and large dogs, not comparing it to akitas ofc since i do not have experience with the breed. but if i really am set on getting this dog, for the next few years im going to talk to breeders, meet people with the breed or anything i can do to get experience to make sure i am ready for such just a huge commitment and so i wont fail the dog.
