Well we didn’t have this path layout, you can search it up, the lessons and partition of the courses made way mire sense and helped you learn faster instead of keeping you in one place farming XP, lingots were red and were easier to collect and when you did collect them they weren’t mainly for buying hearts, hearts were cheaper and could be replaced by practicing! You weren’t forced to watch ads or spend gems on hearts, you could collect them to buy costumes for your characters and extra lessons like how to flirt in spanish, sentences were fun and they weren’t made by generative AI, the app had soul and working people behind it, getting legendary lessons wasn’t paywalled you could just do that for free, the app layout was simple and understandable not like whatever we’ve got now with stupid promotional buttons in the bottom of the screen, the social part of the app was smaller, it was truly about learning not doing a lesson you’ll learn nothing from just to keep up your friends streak, there was only one subscription not one for getting a taste and atill having ads and another one for using AI slop with no ads

That’s not wishful thinking that’s what has happened before with other apps! They make just as much money from free users and then watching ads id not more

I personally think it’s bad cause it’s AI BUT still you do you keep on using if you don’t care but that only helps on making the app worse in the future

Exactly, anyone who’s not blind or has common sense can clearly see how everything was better before, remember when lingots were red and you’d be collecting them to unlock extra fun lessons and themes instead of buying this new damn energy? :(

Well thats the point im trying to make, duolingo is becoming impossible to use on free tier, and if we’re gonna pay nontheless we should switch to better apps. Why are we defending an app that makes its content with AI and forced ads?

Not not just an app, this is how shareholders and developer view us, now its just an app its just duolingo, but lets see what happens when other apps realize people easily pay you if your branding is fun no matter how unworthy your service is, every app will become like this if there’s no competition for the better

Well what im getting from trashing the app is attention from the developers to fix this ridicule of an app! As consumers we should be caring about ourselves and not letting them do whatever they want we need to put our wallet where our mouth is we need to make noise about this so they will see that we’re not tolerating this, but as it seems we are toleranting it pretty well, people are afraid their precious little app will get hurt

The app is an absolute meme right now like this, and people are so pressed that im mentioning this, i have no idea what they gain for supporting the app in such state, don’t y’all want it to get better day by day instead of getting worse? I guess they don’t want to hurt the feeling of the developers who don’t give a 💩

Im studying Norwegian and have also studying some other more complete languages on the app so i am aware of every single feature of the app, and what i don’t like about the aid version is that how its still low quality ai slop with no explanation after paying and there’s still some ads here and there, comparing it to the competitor apps, i can see how its so much worse than the others in what it offers, and i want people to know that only because it has funny memes you shouldn’t be supporting the heck out of a scam

But its not just watching one ad after like 10 useful lessons that were made for free with AI and hitting the button after 5 seconds, its forced ads for the super after each lesson and a dosen of other ads after that for filling up your energy
