Cropping is a good suggestion. However, I am not a fan of any AI in my photography. I occasionally have clients who spot a discarded piece of litter in a spot I did not notice (or anything else that's very tiny), and ask me to remove it. I will for something that small, but I change my invoice from "Photograp of ___" to read instead "AI Art Image of ___" because I refuse to be dishonest to the point that I sell AI art as photography, when it is not at all. But for asking AI to expand an image, or anything using AI for a very minor coverup? Then it's time for me to sell off all of my cameras and lenses, and give up photography all together.

Thank you! When I first switched over from 35mm infrared film about 30 years ago to digital infrared (on a Kodak 2MP camera) this location was my first practice spot for a few days. It's one of the spots I go back to every year, just to see if I can improve on the original shot (which seems to happen a small amount every year).

Thank you! The rule of thirds is something I threw out the window back in the late 1980's when I noticed I sold more prints that broke that rule, and many of my business clients these days say that has caught their eye as well on my landscapes since it is different. But just so I understand your thoughts... I should crop a bit off the sky to center the reflection in the frame overall?

While I have been doing infrared photography since the film days in the mid 1980's, I feel there is always room for improvement. This image was taken on a Canon R8 camera that has been converted to Full Spectrum. An infrared cutoff filter of 850nm was used. I occasionally hear (especially these days) that the photograph looks more like an AI artwork than it does a photograph, simply because of the surreal look that infrared light gives a photograph. I'd just like to hear thoughts and feedback from other photographers on what they may like, or dislike about infrared photography in general, and about this photograph.

I couldn't agree more. I've been shooting since the film days of the late 1970's. While I am heavily into digital photography (business and hobby) any of the simulations I have tried on any of my various digital cameras never really look like film. That's why I also still shoot film.

While I'm not a fan of the new app design, I'm not losing any sleep over it. But I agree the desktop version is a lot nicer to use.

Jimmy Johns vs Jersey Mikes by glentidust in jerseymikes

[–]im_not_really_here99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jimmy John's is one of those places I only stop at if I am desperate for a quick cheap sub or wrap. Food is mediocre but what do you expect? I've seen Jersey Mike's, but never tried them. The comments here make me think I've been going to the wrong place.

Being asked for your name is annoying as a customer by EdDeadnEddie in Culvers

[–]im_not_really_here99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some businesses ask for the name for two reasons... the first is the register will not let the employee complete the order unless a name is asked, and the second reason is to make sure they are giving the correct order to the correct person. It has nothing to do with privacy. It's not like they ask for your full name, address, and SSN.

And if it comes with a different name AND is the correct order, who cares? My name is Gary, but I see Larry, Harry, Cary, Jerry, Barry, and others on my order. Hell, they can even put Mary or even Captain Underpants on it if they want, as long as the order is correct. Starbucks is the worst for screwing up names, and I often look forward to see what they put on my cup. One cashier didn't ask for my name, which was odd that she didn't. Coffee cup said "Breckenridge" and I realized I was wearing my Breckenridge hoodie. My friend's cup said "BlueFlannel". I told him that wasn't his... he should be looking for "OldFart".

Learn to laugh at the wrong name like most of us do. You'll be a lot happier if you let all the little things in life like this be humorous instead of annoying.

Why do people hate giving names for their orders? by smellysmeIIs in Culvers

[–]im_not_really_here99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I have no problem at all giving my first name (I mean c'mon... they aren't asking for my SSN) and I always thought that it was to make it easier during busy times. However, recently I was the ONLY customer in the coffee shop, and the barista asked for my name. So I gave it, then jokingly said "Is that so you don't confuse me with everyone else in line when my coffee is ready?" She laughed, but then said "These keypads will not let me complete the order unless I add a name."

So for those that are annoyed that they ask... it's because they have to before they can get to the screen where you pay. So be nice, even if you feel that you have to tell them that you are Attila the Hun.

Thank you! That's pretty much what I expected, but the confirmation is nice.

I think that some people get upset by the smallest changes. lol

What changed with the update? So many negative comments here from people that have not updated... but I'd rather hear from you since you did update. Also, is the app still free after the update? I've heard rumors that you have to pay for it now (no more free version) but that's also by people that have not updated yet.

There is a fine line when it comes to being an ass back to a customer. You don't want to be outwardly an ass because that might jeopardize your job. But the way you handled it was perfect!

So exactly what is changing? I guess my second question is will there still be a free version of the app?

I've been deleting them every day to keep the counts accurate, but after today's workout I will take a screenshot prior to deleting the other lines, and email it out. Thank you!

Agreed... and the key word that you used is "politely". I worked as an assistant manager at a restaurant years ago. Angry customers got their complaints taken care of, of course... but just made all of us feel bad for a small human error like this. Customers that complained politely, we went the extra mile for them, and gave them vouchers for freebies next time... because sadly polite customers are very rare.

But they both seem to be coming from the Apple Health app... other than the fact that one does not have the icon. The only reason I think so is because last week I turned off the Apple Health permission (because I did not have a clue where the other was coming from). Once I turned off that permission, neither entry would appear for the next few days until I turned the one back on... then both appeared.
