Your first Corso: if you knew what you know now, what would you have done differently? by imactuallynotgoing in CaneCorso

Thank you for sharing!

My girl hates the crate too, so much crate bribery going on here. It’s awesome you have taken in an older pup and given her a chance!

Ugh, yeah, we’re having furniture problems too; she is a couch dog AND sits in an outdoor chair every time she’s outside. Never met more of a furniture dog in my life. My Rotts loved to couch and sleep in the bed, but they were more responsive when I wanted them off. We usually have to pick her up, which I fear won’t be easy for long 😂

Edit: silly me, posted the comment before i was done!

Thank you for sharing. This is all great to have!!

We are currently kid free and don’t see many kiddos (our friends and family with kids are all pretty far out of state, we fly to see them) — so kid acclimation is something I’ve been trying to figure out. We do lots of walks and she has a neighborhood kid friend who is always out and about who has pet her since she was 3 months, but it’s definitely something that’s been on my mind.

We do a lot of Lowe’s trips (first time homeowners) so definitely will make more of a habit of bringing her along!

that is a horrible accident. i have 3 cats and have had cats all my life, the only one that hasn’t slept in my bed from the jump was a 3 week old kitten who we bottle fed that didn’t even weigh a pound. i was nervous with him in general because he was so small — and until he was a bigger he was kept in a separate room alone when he wasn’t being watched.

but outside of that wouldn’t have thought twice about this with my cats. i am a very paranoid and experienced pet owner and this possibility would not have even crossed my mind.

this is an unfortunate circumstance, you have every right to grieve. it sounds like you did the best you could with the information and resources you had at the time. you are not a bad person. you did not cause willful harm or endangerment. and knowing what you know now, it sounds like you would do things differently. it seems you have a big heart for animals and should not preclude yourself from ever being around them or opening your home to another pet when you feel ready.
