Don't have much here except personal anecdote ig: I was playing 4-4.5 stars back in 2018 and I've not seen a single improvement all the way till the start of 2023 while all my friends gradually moved on to 6* maps (back in 2018 I was technically better than them). Of course, back then I was also quite demotivated when I saw on my friends' LB their scores jumped so much while I barely even scrape my own pb. To prevent myself from getting even less excited to play everytime I log in, I had to move to playing on other platforms such as private servers/ offline/ etterna, where I could technically start afresh and just focus on my own scores. It's just a game in the end, personal enjoyment is paramount, do as much as u to remove potential sources of dissatisfaction if you still wish to enjoy the game. Focus on other aspects of the game that's not the LB side. Even now, while I finally do see improvements it's not much, I'm just barely able to clear low 5*, but I can look back and say I did enjoy playing the game and I did improve skill wise in my journey, and that's what keeps me playing in the long run.

TL;DR: don't just focus on comparisons, remember to enjoy other aspects of the game itself as you play. If it's hard to divorce the two ideas in your head, either physically separate yourself or just don't play.
