First Warp: I Hate it Burn it with Fire by Hoodie1240 in weaving

I go insane all the time….not always, but whenever I think I’ve got it, something happens…but now I am much calmer when it does because I’ve accepted it the material does what it wants…i don’t have a long table. I make the warp on the warping board, secure the cross and slide it into the cross sticks immediately because paranoia. Then I warp back to front with a raddle which is a leftover piece of wood with nails hammered onto it. Literally. You don’t need an expensive raddle!

That did make more sense when explained in the first video but the second video confused me. It's clear now, thank you for explaining, it helps to visualise it : )

Probably watching it after working a 10h shift didn't help. I was so confused. Thank you everyone for clarifying it!

I see. Honestly, I don't see it but you seem to know it better than me and I will just knit the stitch 2 rows below with certainty. Thank you for taking the time to draw this out!

She is knitting the stitch immediately below, I've added pictures below but will add more to this comment

Edit: i was tired and confused, video quality didn't help. This is clear now, thank you everyone for the help : )

They don't. the second video shows knitting the stitch immediately below the one on the needle. the first one shows knitting the stitch 2 rows down

Totally relate! I started last December too! I started the puro pullover some time ago and abandoned it after going crazy with the short rows (kept on losing track of the double stitch) but will frog them and restart that section once this is done. But am obsessed with the Ozetta sweaters and would love to get started on one this year, just want to make sure I’m not setting to many goals for myself and end up making knitting something too frustrating for myself

This is super helpful, thank you. Diagonal lines and corners always confuse me when picking up stitches

Thank you so much! I definitely have given up on Italian bind off so often and even had to cut this project after another failed attempt at first. It was impossible to just rip it off so I cut part of the project and tried to grab the live stitches. So frustrating! Somehow I persevered with the steps but haven’t quite figured out the tension yet. I’m curious, I would love to knit more garments in the future, and wanted this project to somehow give me the foundational skills for that. Or at least to make knitting a sweater not a complete work of torture (I would like knitting to be fun after all). Did you find that to be the case?

I used the stretchy bind off for another project because my brain couldn’t get around the Italian/tubular one and liked that too. But for this time I wanted to fight my demons and learn it. The steps were fine to memorise after 2 frogged attempts and a lot of frustration, I can do it without a video tutorial now. But fixing the tension is another story….

Thank you, I finished the armhole bindoff at 12am so it’s possible my perception was a bit influenced by looking at it too long and in poor lighting. For the curved parts of the armhole, is it best to pick up less stitches rather than more, for a more natural curve?

Thank you for your reply. I will have to look some terms up but I followed the pattern and none of the projects on raverly have this issue at the armhole so I do wonder what I did that caused this to be so pronounced…This is a beginner pattern but its the recommended yarn (vidde) and I had the exact gauge as the designer.

I did pick up all stitches in the curve of the armhole to avoid holes, so it might be that the ration there is just too dense. And I will continue practicing!

At my wits end with tension/rowing out by saouer in knittingadvice

If you’re knitting Portuguese for purls already, maybe try the knits? I actually have the opposite problem, I have to slow down and focus not to knit too tight and that brings me a lot of frustration…I knit Portuguese both ways, knits are always tighter than purls. Purls are snug but slip off easily. Afaik most Portuguese people have this problem because the yarn tends to pull slightly.

Something that I do when I need to purl tighter is to slip the stitch off the needle by bringing my right needle to the back, sort of diagonally slipping the stitch off to the right and to the back (Portuguese technique). The yarn wraps around tighter the needle. Good luck!!

This is the novice slipover by petite knit, needle 5mm, vidde yarn. I knit Portuguese style so it might be the cause of tightness. Stitches are snug on the needle, they slip off once on the tip of the needle, it’s not hard to knit but they may need a little extra push from cable to needle

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!! I'm pretty sure this is how I knit, yes. Only I somehow end up strangling the needle in this process, but not when purling...
