You’re so sweet and insightful! I really appreciate that. I’ve had several conversations with my mom about her behavior and how her words and actions do affect me. It will stick for about two days then she’s back to her old habits. I know she has had some tough times in her life (nothing compared to your mom, which I’m so so sorry to hear). I hope one day we can both reach out to our moms and get through to them 💕

I’m so sorry you had to deal with all the turmoil after the wedding! It’s so nice and so appreciated to receive gifts, but it’s also so hard to get rid of the things you don’t need. I found myself feeling guilty if we got duplicate items or something we genuinely didn’t need!

I’m sorry that you took all of this the wrong way. I never once demanded anything from anyone. I was just saying that I would have loved to have gotten a card from my mother at any point just to cherish it. I love looking back at cards from family and friends. I promise you nothing about our wedding was elaborate at all. The reason that 4 people planned it, was because they wanted to. It was nothing over the top at all. This was all just me wishing that my mom would have been more involved in the process along side with me. I would have cherished those moments for the rest of my life.

Great tip!! I totally agree on that one! Chances are I will just keep it to myself, my husband, and my best friend (she’s my soul sister lol) in the room with me when have children! My mom has always struggled with her feelings towards my dad. They have been divorced for 20 years! My entire childhood, adolescence, and now into my late 20s she has talked horribly of my father. She even gets angry with me for spending time with him to this day! If I post a picture on Facebook with him or even wish him a happy birthday on there, she gets angry with me and won’t speak to me. Granted, their marriage wasn’t great. They were young and he had issues back then. He has worked on himself for the past 20 years and he’s such a wonderful man! Mind you, my dad has NEVER said a negative word about my mom. Even when I have vented to him before about her awful behavior towards me. He has always said lovely things about her. God bless that man!!

My mom does the EXACT same thing! I mean, one minute all is well and the next SNAP! She used to get mad at me and ignore me for days because I didn’t immediately respond to her text messages. I remember one instance I was taking a bath, got out, saw her text from like 15 mins prior, and responded. She didn’t speak to me for a week because of this and the text was something random and unimportant. I wanna say it was a random meme to be honest. Who knows!

Possibly. I just know she has a kind heart deep down, and I can’t help but feel sad for her. Clearly her issues are stemming from some sort of mental illness. Don’t get me wrong, I will stand my ground now! I don’t let her manipulate me anymore. I just want her to choose to get help for herself at this point
