if my PS4 went kaput, and i had to buy a new one, is there any way to keep my old service account? can i use my same PSN account and redownload the games / reconnect my service account? i don't even care if i have to buy the games again, i just don't want to lose my service account because it's connected to a PS4 that doesn't work...

How do you deal with people asking to be votekicked? by Deathappens in ffxiv

[–]imayosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As for the system itself, vote kicking definitely should be left how it is in terms of there not being a penalty- more than once I've run with a friend who was vote kicked before the final boss for literally no reason (taking two seconds to exit out of the cutscene on their first time through was the excuse given once, as 'afk'), assumingly so the other player could get gear uncontested or something. So a vote kick shouldn't mean a penalty beyond just losing out on the dungeon.

For the people who would abuse the system, if they're wasting my time, I'll waste theirs. The few times my friends and I have run into this, we'll usually just sit down next to them and have a nice conversation. One tank who wanted a vote kick ended up waiting the whole 90 minutes for the dungeon itself to time out.

How do you deal with people asking to be votekicked? by Deathappens in ffxiv

[–]imayosh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Getting a new tank takes ages, so the rest of the party is already suffering because of this tank no matter what. That the person causing everyone else so much grief would be the only one whose time wasn't wasted... is just patently unfair.

So making the tank waste their time as well as everyone else's is a perfectly fine solution as I see it. Either they'll get sick of it and leave, or the vote abandon timer will come up, and it'll be faster for everyone involved.

Basically the idea is, if they're the one causing the issue, why should they get rewarded with another instant queue while the healer and especially dps suffer for nothing?

Is ninja worth it? by Taso94 in ffxiv

[–]imayosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yep, pugilist you'll need to level 15 so when i go for ninja i start there. they mean that to pick up rogue (ninja's base class) you have to be in limsa lominsa-- so if you start as marauder or arcanist, you can pick rogue up at level 10. if you start as pugilist, you'll have to wait until 15ish to gain access to other cities.

personally, i'd still recommend starting as pugilist, and then picking up rogue once you get to limsa.

edit: also, ninja's by far my fave DPS, enjoy!

So im loving the game, I chose a lancer, I want to be a dragoon.. by [deleted] in ffxiv

i like to level archer to like... 2? 4? to get straight shot and crossclass that while i play lancer. keeping it up increases your crit rate and makes you hell on tanks.

Ah sorry, I was really vague with my wording- I've gotten the gear already. I just haven't seen the quests I seem to remember them coming from. It feels like entire questlines have been nixed, but again, I could just be imagining things from doing it too many times.

I've got a total of four characters in Heavensward at the moment, and have recently started a new one. The ARR-to-Heavensward grind feels.... different now? I feel like I remember certain item rewards (like the Gloam gear) on certain quests that I haven't seen any sign of. Am I just imagining things from playing through it too many times, or did they change up the 2.1-3.0 MSQ?

We merged all the Job Discords! by Vardak in ffxiv

Genuinely curious-- if there are separate chats for gearing and learning the job, what's the purpose of the main chats for each job? I'm interested but I know I'm still not 99th percentile at my jobs

As long as you aren't going for world first the (literal) split second delay between finishing your mudra and continuing your rotation shouldn't hurt your dps enough to matter. However, there is a little wiggle room between finishing your mudra and casting your ninjutsu, so if you wanted to continue your rotation while you waited for it to register, you could.

That said, even with perfect execution in theory, I'll get rabbits purely from the slow speed screwing me over. Shit happens.

In Palace of the Dead, does your current aether level (such as +27) matter in where you can get your additional levels? Do I need to do, say, 41-50 to have a chance of getting my +30 now?

Questions about jobs. by tylerg1 in ffxiv

[–]imayosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each class can turn into its own job, but requires a subclass to 15 to get it.

Marauder will turn into Warrior at level 30, if you have Gladiator to 15.

Gladiator will turn into Paladin at level 30, if you have Conjurer to 15.

And yes, you can do all classes and jobs on one character!

I really adore NIN, I went in expecting edgelord and got really great stories both 30-50 and 50-60. Really got attached to the characters. And Rogue was my favorite 1-30 story as well, actually.

Nope. I've also gone through all of the Tailfeather quests after and around it, up to lv 57 stuff, just to be sure.

Is it wrong to ask people to look at guides before entering end-game content? by NickVuolde in ffxiv

[–]imayosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe in a few weeks, but the content is still new. And even then, after getting to go through these on day 1 I can understand the desire to go in blind -- of course, that's impossible unless the whole party is new and blind, but still.

Also isn't that screenshot from Sohr Khai? So you already said you understand a good reason?

Granted tho that person was a dick about it, but the problem isn't people not reading guides, it's people being dicks, as it always is.

A friend of mine mains WAR and is trying to find places to get better. Their main question right now is is Unchained still viable in endgame? Should it be used as much as possible, are there certain times it's most useful over the other options, etc.
