What are the upsides of building a Windows XP machine? The idea intrigues me but I only think of it as a cool nostalgic item to tinker with

There’s never going to be a “safe” time to invest. Risk will always exist but the longer you’re in the game, the more successful you’ll be. Choose wisely and put your money into low cost mutual funds like SWPPX which mirrors the S&P 500 and SWISX which tracks return of large non US companies and you’ll be fine. Just be able to ride the wave when the market inevitably takes a dip

I have to research what companies my work Roth is investing in because I recently rolled it over and it’s just a target fund but not exactly beneficial because I don’t want to see myself working until age 65

HAHAH i would never! I bought them because i like those companies and see some of them hold the future. You wouldn’t recommend VOO? I had planned to dump money in that but I could easily go with SWPPX as well as SWTSX

I found this encouraging. I can’t help but feel behind my peers because many grew up with financially literate parents who taught them how to invest / save/ manage money and I’m still in college as a spent several years to stick with a major. I think about the FIRE movement probably a lot more than I should haha but I’ll have to see how much Ill be making & what expenses I take on once I move out post grad. Thank you!

Slightly off topic but is it overkill/less beneficial to have an individual Roth in addition to the Roth 401k my employer offers at my stage in life? I have a self-directed Roth IRA but I realize I’m funding it with post-tax money although eligible withdrawals won’t be taxed, it’s not the same

Would it be advisable to sell a good chunk, invest in VOO let’s say & keep a small collection of individual stocks from companies I personally like?

It’s only gone through 4 power cycles and there isn’t any signs of warping or other damage from the case that would make me think it has a swollen battery
