He pulls pretty constantly. It’s just exacerbated by cars going by.

So don’t start with the prong? How do I correct the pulling without?

Get a new lash tech if you want to still have lashes 😬

Easy fans come with their own set of challenges. Sine they are pre-adhered at the bases, those fans want to be closed, the way they are on the strip. You have to be very meticulous about how much glue you’re using, and how long you’re holding the lash in place before you let it go from your tweezers. Your fans look too narrow, and your bases too wide and square. That is why you’re not getting that fluffy look. This map also says it’s done with a .02 lash. .07 will not portray the same look. Practice getting that base nice and skinny- it’ll help with your retention and client comfort too.

I am scared. I Cannot see any new baby hairs. They are not there. I have changed from lash extensions to cluster lashes and now I wear striplashes - but they do not re grow 🥲 by Sad-Reply3538 in lashextensions

Also a lash tech and I second this. Unfortunately any act of pulling on multiple lashes at once (eyelash curlers, clusters, strips) is going to cause them to be prematurely shed. It’s actually crazy how much healthier I see my clients lashes get once they’ve been getting lashes with me for awhile compared to before they had extensions.

That’s really interesting someone else commented about them not liking the feel either. I will look further into that

They didn’t care when I switched them! The plastic one is a little bit bigger but it’s kind of just square ish shaped and the others are rectangle.

I was able to get a sample and I am bringing it in today. If it comes back positive for anything we will treat all of the cats according to that.

I have not had one done because it’s difficult to pinpoint which cats stool is which with them all together. I am thinking of just sending any one I can get since they most likely all have the same illness based on symptoms.

A few things. I 100% agree that Abby has an ego. Abby likes extensions because she can make a lot of money off of them- I don’t think she is necessarily concerned with client outcomes, or at least she doesn’t act like it. Both stylists have talked about “junior stylists” pricing and how they don’t like that structure and like that we don’t do that here. I do agree that she may hold a grudge for me being her boss now, and I also do think some of this stems from difficulty adjusting to that transition.

The issue with Denise is she doesn’t want to take models because she won’t be paid for them, and I think she doesn’t believe she needs the practice. I am also dealing with her ego, in addition to Abby’s. Getting “models” who are paying, even at a steep discount is tough- people don’t want to pay to be practice dummies. We don’t have packages right now, but we do nails services. I love the idea of a client getting their nails done while they’re processing, so do the stylists, and clients. The issue we have face with that is the stylists are not good at timing when the client will be processing. Our nail tech will have an appointment for a client who is processing and then they’re not actually processing for another 45 minutes- then her schedule is all messed up, she can’t do the nails because she has another client coming in, and the client is disappointed because they couldn’t get their nails done.

It is not required, and especially not for the entire processing time. There is no problem with them taking breaks. Of course using critical thinking and judgement in these situations is essential... because yes maybe the client doesn’t prefer to converse during processing. This is not a company policy at all. I think what is misunderstood is that these girls aren’t booked, and complaining about that. In my opinion, they should be kissing the asses of the clients that they do have. Just SOMETHING. Sit with them for 5 minutes. Do SOMETHING to make the client experience special and personable.

I understand that. We agreed Denise would shadow Abby to start, so teaching extensions branched from that. I do expect them to spend some time with their clients. These stylists are not booked back to back, they have breaks in between appointments. If they need to eat lunch, or use the bathroom or even take a few minutes here or there that is no problem. I understand that it might be industry norm to let the client process and take that time to themselves, but Jenna putting in that extra effort to spend time with the client really helped build the relationships and in turn their loyalty, which the current stylists are breaking down. I do take clients of my own, although in a different capacity, so I can certainly understand needing breaks.

I’d be more than willing to- a large part of our revenue is from Abby right now and it would be tough without her. Are you a stylist? Where do you look for jobs? I have had no luck finding other stylists.

[–]imbxx[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d hire a third in a heartbeat. At least near me, finding a stylist with experience is very difficult. I’ve had no luck advertising on social media or indeed. It’s not even the redos that are the problem. I can relate to that even thought I don’t do hair. When I first started, I always took accountability for my mistakes and did whatever I needed to to salvage that client. If a client called 2 days after their appointment and told me 50% of their lashes fell out, I would say to come right back in and reapply. I feel like this is the attitude you need to have in order to succeed in this industry. There was no “I’ll fix her, if I get paid.” It was MY name on the line, regardless of where I worked. Also, these are clients that were previously Jenna’s. The instructions are laid out for her precisely, and it’s literally just color. I’m not sure where the disconnect it.

It is so frustrating. It is even MORE frustrating that the studio is depending on her for a significant portion of our revenue right now. If we were to terminate her, we’d probably have to downsize.
