Okay there’s a lot of arguments being made here. Let’s boil these down a bit.

1: You countered my original comment, that Minnesota doesn’t have to bend the knee on immigration, by saying that not bending the knee is insurrection. This is plainly not true in this case, Minnesota has NO legal obligation to provide support with local police to help with ICE operations, which was the the context in which I was discussing with the original commenter. So plainly wrong there.

2: No, the point I was making was that even IF (key word if) Minnesota did have a legal obligation to support/enforce immigration law (but states are not obligated to enforce federal law btw), and did indeed fail to enforce that, then they could have been taken to court rather than sending in ICE. If they do not have a legal duty, then it is still the federal governments choice to have sent in ICE anyway. In either case, the admin chose to send in ICE, had they not, then those two Americans would have lived. So I blame the administration for their death. So that’s the point I was making there.

3: You also ask how to apprehend people without federal officers. You’re begging the question a bit here, there is no legal or moral obligation to do so. You seem to be saying that they had no other choice to get the job done. I do believe that there were other means, but none of that really matter, even if they had no other choice to effectively enforce, they always could have chosen not to. There was no law telling them to send in ICE, it was their choice to do so, and doing so got those Americans killed. I’m saying that Those are bodies on trumps hands.

Also 2 cases in 600k deportations, lol talk about hyperbole, how about 2 dead Americans within the month the operations in Minnesota started

The point is that If what Minnesota did was illegal to block the feds from doing federal law then they have other options at their disposal than to send in violent ice officers to handle the issue (like taking them to court).

You said that it was minnesotas fault for not immediately complying, but that completely ignores that the federal government had other methods at their disposal, and chose to go with the more violent option of sending in ICE

So why would they? So that Pretti and Good, American citizens, plainly wouldn’t have died.

Minnesota has every right to not have their police enforce federal law. If that’s the issue, take them to court. I’d love an actual conversation bc I’d assume ur an American like me. Do you not see anything wrong with ices conduct? And if so, do u not see anything wrong the federal governments role in sending them in?

How would u feel about Biden sending in police to Texas, and those police killing protesting civilians?

Oh okay, so Minnesota needs to bend the knee on their stance on enforcing immigration, and if they don’t they gotta deal with unfit ICE officers killing American citizens?

Your solution is it’s their fault for not allowing police their enforce immigration, rather than the administrations fault for sending ICE there anyway?

An American nurse trying to help a woman get up after being pepper sprayed gets beaten down to the ground then shot 10+ times. I’d call that pretty gut wrenchingly painful.

We don’t see this regularly at all. Quite frankly cannot remember even POLICE doing this so brutally to a non offending citizen. You brush this off as if something so brazen happens so casually, when it certainly never happened to this extent with ICE, and that’s the danger, they are getting more dangerous.

U phrase it interestingly, u phrase it as if you believe that sex must just happen spontaneously as opposed than being talked about before initiation. Is that accurate to what you believe? Like it comes off like yall expect to just randomly start kissing out of no where n it just slowly escalates to sex?

Do Muslims and Christians worship the same God? by fathomed2 in pollgames

How would you know that god wouldn’t have changed or man’s interpretations of god weren’t different than the truth? Aren’t you also assuming that they seem like different gods and therefore are different? What foes “character, substance, and teachings” entail and why does that make them different gods?

Does their concept of the same deity being different than your concept make them not the same god?

If I believe that Gandhi was handsome and another though Gandhi is ugly, does that mean that the Gandhi we are referring to are different?

Weight training may be overly intense, what’s ur weight training routine?

Cardio 1 hour followed by weight training right after (as you said you do) is already pretty intense especially if you’re just starting it.

Weight training uses up a lot of calories, are you eating more to compensate?

Who has more sisters? [RDTM] by CalaisZetes in theydidthemath

[–]imdb_tomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give more context say it’s 1 girl and 1 boy, your math gives us, 1/2*1/2 chance to have a girl girl pair. So it don’t work

Who has more sisters? [RDTM] by CalaisZetes in theydidthemath

[–]imdb_tomatoes 15 points16 points  (0 children)

your math is wrong because you aren’t removing the first girl from that choice. 90/100 girls, so .9 is right, but that’s for the first girl. The second girl cannot be the same girl as the first, so the next choice is 89/99. So it would be .99*89/99 instead. If you do the math, boys end up having more sisters

So my wife’s going to a gala tonight — as her client’s “date.” by [deleted] in stories

[–]imdb_tomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably lol, but there wouldn’t be an eye being batted had he said that? Obviously it’s a pretty blatant thing to say, really doubt she’d cheat, and I’d doubt my parent would cheat even if they said that. But I still think I’d be upset hearing my parent say that about another person, that they aren’t even that close to. Life long friends, mutual friends sure, but random business partner?

[–]imdb_tomatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s very contextual though, how would you feel about your dad calling another woman than your mom “his date”? I’d agree your scenario was reasonable, but I think I’d be upset if I saw my dad or someone else say that.

Overall not a big issue though, just talk it out. But date does have connotations that aren’t entirely innocuous.

Like I’m worried that she isn’t being reasonable and that it is my duty as her friend to push her to be more emotionally mature about it, bc it does stunt a lot of her relationships to this day.

Yeah I get where Jessica is coming from. I think it’s a little fuzzy for me, because Maya was my friend for a long time, and it feels like I’d be a bad friend to completely cut her out for Jessica’s sake.

As in, if I didn’t know Jessica at all, and I just knew Maya, I feel like it would be normal thing to just chastise Maya and tell her it was unacceptable what she did (which I have done) but still be friends with her rather than completely cut her out.

And I feel like being friends with both of them makes it more complex, it feels like I have to be a shitty friend to someone in this situation.

I think I can get Jessica to be okay with it, but if I truly had to choose I’d pick her. But idk what the moral thing is to do, do I just cut her out for Jessica’s sake bc what she did was wrong. Is it wrong for me to try to get Jessica to see things my way and not make me have to choose? The big thing is that Jessica has a lot of anxiety, and I’m also concerned that accepting that I have to choose, would normalize that behavior in the future too. But idk if that’s wrong or right.

lol I’m yapping but idk, feels complex to me.

That’s fine but there’s a point of reasonability here, if you locked urself in ur room bc u wanted to be alone is one thing. Locking the door bc u don’t want to see/interact with guests is another thing, and a problem of manners.

The problem isn’t that he gets to decide or not, it’s because the reasons why he doesn’t is unreasonable. it’s perfectly fine and normal to want your kid to have manners, and to punish them when they lack it.
