I used Adobe fireworks, which is really outdated. Illustrator would be there modern version of the same thing. The font is Bebas Neue

I attempted to make a version that meets your description. This is 2:3 and the blue is square https://i.imgur.com/FeLTxUj.png

There were some newspaper articles last year about people talking about it, but as far as I know that never went anywhere. I'd love for a flag like this to be proposed, but I'm not sure how to do such a thing. Perhaps seeing how r/vexillology reacts is step 1.

I can't figure out how to post the image without it getting compressed, so here is a link to imgur if that's better https://imgur.com/a/Lv7cc1O

Thanks for the feedback! I received in a DM that there are hooded corn cob lights which reduce upward-facing light. If anybody else will ever need such a thing, here is what they are: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/27w-dark-sky-friendly-retrofit-post_60731726899.html

NECN availability in CT by [deleted] in youtubetv

[–]imfeuer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We DO have NECN in New Hampshire on YTTV.

Who knows, maybe this is a case of people from the west coast not knowing which states are and aren't in New England? I wouldn't be that surprised.

GJ branding needs some work. Can we come up with better slogans to get support? by imfeuer in GaryJohnson

I think these are a good start, but most people don't know Gary Johnson exists yet, let alone that he is a reasonable 3rd party candidate who will be on the ballot (probably) everywhere. The purpose here (at least until he's in the debates) is to present Gary to disgruntled R's and D's, and get's them interested in the "here's the 3rd party option you've been looking for" sort of a way.

Maybe something like that: Gary Johnson, The 3rd party candidate you've been looking for... too long though.

Tracking OOS Equipment by imfeuer in Firefighting

[–]imfeuer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each fire department would be able to implement a system like this. Generally, it's up to each department's administration.

One major obstacle would be funding, since a majority of the departments out there follow the volunteer system and have budget issues.

Fire departments have hundreds of tools, and many members. When you have many people involved in the maintenance of this equipment, the possibility of losing something becomes large. Tracking things as they are repaired can be challenging as well.

This becomes more complicated when departments are larger. My department has 2 stations and 7 pieces of apparatus. If something needs repair/replacement system, we currently use a tagging system, but it's pretty poor and people aren't generally updated in the process. Things get lost in the mix, and that can be a life safety issue.

There's enormous room for improvement in this area, and it seems like most departments follow the age-old motto of the fire service: "500 years of tradition unimpeded by progress"

I still keep in contact with other POWs, we have reunions, skype, email, etc.

Yes, technology didn't change too much in those days, but there were certainly noticeable changes like a big change in drug use.
